Remember the suspension's designed for off-road use, so if he hasn't changed that too, it won't feel great compared to a dedicated SM. Stick the knobblies back on & find an old quarry to play in though (or come for a play on Salisbury Plain) & you'll love it. -- Krusty www.MuddyStuff.co.uk Off-Road Classifieds '02 MV Senna '03 Tiger 955i '96 Tiger '79 Fantic Hiro 250

He's only ever had it set up for road use so the suspension is supposed to be ok. I think it was an ex-demo bike that the shop had set up as a supermoto so they could try to sell the bike as being ok for two purposes.
Naah, was a great bike off- and on-road. If I were going to be tempted to ride again, it'd be something like that. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Ace (bdotrogers a.t compaqnet.fr) \`\ | /`/ DS#8 BOTAFOT#3 SbS#2 UKRMMA#13 DFV#8 SKA#2 IBB#10 `\\ | //' `\|/` `
s'not bait - genuine opinion. I disagree - the Yam will be available discounted, the BMW will not. I've joined the Lozzo anti-BMW club. yes, so why would you want one?
Yes, that's true. I have, as regards a lot of modern models. I'd have a spin on one before making up my mind.... And the other thing is that dirt bikes, even big buggers that aren't suppose to venture far off unpaved roads, are almost always more fun than trail- derived road bikes.
If you're suggesting that the TDM is trail-derived, given its origins via the 850 models to the supoer-ten, I'd have to disagree. It really bears no resemlance, bar the engine layout, to that bike. And is the BM really any more of a big traily? No, I don't think so. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. You're not the only one. I'm thinking one of those with full luggage would make a cracking replacement for the ZRX.
Nope. I threw mine down the road, or more usually down the off-road, on many occasions, and never thought so. A mate's girlfriend thought it was quite heavy one time, though, when camping in a field in the Lakes. My mate and I were taking turns to bomb around the field, which had something of a hill in it, when one time I came up said hill for a great jump at the top, only to find mysesf looking down at my mate's tent. With his girlfriend in it. Fortunatley she was only bruised by the landing, and it was the big black mark on her tent (borrowed from her sister) that she was most worried about. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. It's a big, tall, sit-up-and-beg bike with a trailie stance. BMW tried the same trick with the R80ST, derived from the R80GS, and that bombed as well. Although the Tedium has sold very well on the Continent, it just hasn't sold well here. Manufacturers seem to think that because people say they like the stance and manoeuvrability of big trail bikes, that they'll go for something with the same ergonomics, but on road tyres and kit. And they don't; or the Brits don't, anyway. Think Ducati Multistrada. And I'm wondering whether Triumph will find that "road-ising" the Tiger for 2007 was actually a good idea. Time will tell. And I'd suggest that the BMW probably has a lot more off-road ability than a TDM, yes.
