So he can point out some flaws in the Trophy to you? ;-)

Well ignoring the jibe there is an upside. You can easily open and strip
the clocks to component parts. If you want to.

Heh. Nah, it was a sort of swap between mates, and I'm not going to
expect him to pull the entire back end down. He's lobbing me a new
switch and when I get the thing overhauled before winter, I'll get your
tame specialist (who isn't answering phones, by the way) to fit it as
    well.

Consensus of opinion on the K group is "The all do that sir", and they
right temselves after a day or two in the dry.

  6. I used to put RainX on one set that always used to mist up - the water
would then just run off and down into the mechanism.. Which did cause
other problems but at least I could see the (not moving) needle
    clearly.

It's good for visors too - the rain just streams off and (used on the
inside) helps them to stop misting up.

I've never actually had a Beemer that did it.
TBF all the lights in the clocks failed after Shane bought the white
    one!

From Motobins and Motorworks spares prices are excellent for older
    models.
I doubt the new bikes are so forgiving though.

In defence of BMW, at least a few years ago, spares prices really
    weren't too bad.

No Rainex, does have the puddle and condensation and the needle still
    moves.

I found that it's best to leave a message - he'll usually call back if
    he's around.

The bloke who bought the GS didn't have a problem getting hold of him...
