I have a 1999 BMW R1100S - Does anyone know what the alternating red
ABS indicator lights mean and why they are blinking upon start up but
tend to go off after about 20-30 mins of riding?
    Thanks!

  2. the alternating lights mean there is no ABS function operative. This is
usually down to low battery charge. As you ride along the bike will put
some charge back into the battery hence disappearance of flashing
lights. In my experience with my GS the lights continue to flash all the
time and will only reset if I stop, cut the engine and then restart.
This resets the ABS circuit - assuming there is sufficient charge. At
stand still you will get both light flashing together until you set off
and the "clunk" noise happens that means the ABS is set.
