Hmmm. $150 American is what I'd pay. Not a dime more.

P.S. Is there such a thing as an 1979 R45 ? I've never heard of it in the
    US.

    28,000 R45's were built between 78 and 85 and I don't think they ever
reached our fair shores. The ad says it sat outside for 6 years so I would
consider it as a parts bike. There's usually a reason why a bike is
abandoned and there's usually a steep price tag attached.

    Hi there,

not sure if this is of any help, especially as the prices refer to the
    German market:

A R45 of this age in an (of cause) used but "ready-to-drive" condition
starts around 800-1000€ over here. The price of a bike like in your ad
is difficult to estimate. I guess a recomondation depends on your
    situation/ goals:

    a) you have a R45 and you look for parts?
    b) you don't have a R45 yet but you are planning on buying one and you
are therefore already looking for spare parts?
    c) you look for a cheap way of getting a bike/ BMW/ R45?

    If a) or b)is true:
By taking the bike apart, keeping some parts for yourself and selling
the rest, you easily should be able to make some money AND have the
parts you need. Of cause you need the space, tools and time to do so:
I would not pay more than 200 - 300 pounds for it.

    If c) is true:
As with most bikes in this condition/ with this kind of history: hands
off! You just need a little project for the summer? Fine! But don't
expect to spend only a few more bucks here and there and you will have
a nice R45. Get yourself a bike in better shape to start with and you
still can rebuilt what you don't like. The money which this bike will
be more expensive, will pay off in the end.

    Best regards,
    markus

  5. They're supposed to share many parts with the r65 I guess.

If it sat outside for 6 years, I'd worry about the cylinders,
bearings, etc. Seems like it might be more fun walking barefoot
on broken glass than it would be fixing this bike up.
