  2. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, "TOG@Toil"
Given that the airspace in which it operated would have to be NOTAMed it
wouldn't be much of a trick to set up an automated alert system that
would mean that only fuckwits would get caught.

I really don't believe it'll happen anytime soon. Operating an RPV in
    the UK isn't easy.

    Thank ****.

Heh, I'd have thought so (As an aside, the cheeky fucker said he'd
still nick me, if he ever caught me speeding or doing naughty things).

I remember an English friend of mine tried flashing her badge when she
was working as Plod in the UK. She got into a shitload of trouble for
    that.

.  Remember our conversation about "speed cameras the size
I do and I purely passed on the information given by the Police at a
briefing session I was given on speeding at Hindlip Hall back at about
the end of Feb in 2007. We were shown a photo of a prototype device
and we were informed that it would be trialled probably on the A449
and on some motorway bridges in the West Mercia area. By the same
token nobody told us about cameras on small drone aircraft. Perhaps
their thinking and plans have moved on, if it has I know nothing, my
    usual stance on most things.

I use the road in question about 5 times a year so have not checked if
it came to pass or not. Given the 5 high profile deaths on the road so
far this year then if it has not happened it can only be a matter of
    time before something is done.

Then again the old bill could have enjoyed yanking the chain of "the
enemy" as i believe we are referred to. All I did was pass on what I
had been told . No wind up intended or intentionally passed on. I am
no expert, have never claimed to be about this or anything else.

I am deeply honored to be bestowed of the title "Wind up merchant of
epic proportions" Its not something I have ever been accused of in the
    past, usually the opposite.

  7. I was told by a friend who has lived in France for about 25 years that
they detect if it is raining by looking to see if your wipers are across
the screen or parked. This suggests that they photograph every vehicle
above the 'rain' limit or the photos are sent on line to a central
office where they look to see where your wiper blades are. He also
mentioned that this was why you find French drivers exceeding the 'rain'
limit but not turning their wipers on.

Could be all different now as I haven't seen the guy for 10 years.

Pure bollocks indeed. How can they tell if you are wiping because of the
rain, or just because you wanted to get rid of some dirt/insect?

I heard they have been talking about adjusting the trigger speed for
rain, but "rain" is not very well defined in the road rules. Currently
their only solution is to have specific speed limit signs which are put
in use when they estimate there is "rain". But this of course costs money.

Must "something be done"? 20 years ago that road was two lanes in
both directions, and was something of a joy. Now it's been traffic
calmed to an inch of its life - and deaths have risen?
You certainly seemed to recount the information with some relish.

S'ok - Mick regards information passed on by personal contacts as
highly reliable, whereas in practice everyone who knows him seems to
be trying to bullshit him as much as possible.

  17. Just cos I've been away!

I don't disagree with the bollox of the other line in this thread. But
thought it might get some technical discussion going.

It would be interesting to know how they define "It's raining" not how
the monitor it on a camera.

On the personal contacts, well I quote you some times.
