It pissed down, so **** knows. Went to the Bluebell Railway instead [1].

Good to see Prawn in his weekend outfit [2] on Saturday, fitted in with the
    locals properly, so he did.

[1] A railway with three stations. Still got stranded one stop from the car
due to a points failure in the Sheffield Park area. Makes a change from
signal failures in the Queens Park area, I suppose.

Haven't been there in the thick end of 20 years. Slightly longer since I
was last at the Bluebell - the locos are much smaller than they used to
be. I remember when the wheels alone were the height of a man.

I was absolutely twatted. Starting on the Belgian booze at 3pm wasn't the
best idea I've had in a while - by 10pm I was (allegedly) dancing in the
    Kebab shop.

    No hangover. Result!

I expect this is some reference to childhood, yes? IF not, you did look in
the engine shed as there are some huge engines in there.

They also have a "Giants of Steam" day where they get all the big ones that
can still run out on the line.

I think he's been spending too much time with BGN, myself.

Am I the only one that finds it somewhat uplifting [1] that we're not the
    only country with unhappy 'youth'?

In fact ours seem a whole lot calmer than the Frenchies.

[1] not that it is uplifting.

Aye, so I see. Was stuck behind their Golden Arrow yesterday, with the
Westcountry class engine. Didn't bother with the engine shed as I was
dragged round it so often as a child it doesn't offer much new.

As I festered gently in my pit the night before last, the Southern
French peace and quiet was split by a deep "Buh-BOOOOM!".

"Hmm..." I thought. The last time I heard anything like that was the
    Israeli embassy bomb.

Oddly, no one else seems to have heard it, or to have any idea what it
was. I'd guessed it was the local disaffected yoof getting technical,
    but it seems not.

Ooh, that's a possibility. I wonder if the Froggie Air Force is allowed
    to do that near land?
Unlikely, the fallout would have been detectable.

    <slight tangent>

Do you think this will help or hinder the cause of the Turkish to gain EU
    membership?

Already the French don't want Turkey in the EU. Because Turkey is a
predominantly muslim country, I'd say hinder. In a big way too.

So it would suit Chirac for this to go on for a bit then?

I'm sick of the French, let's kick them out and get some new Euro
