They were young, they flew to Hanoi, bought three Russian shitebikes and
rode back home to Barcelona in 9 months, in 2007.

I spent some of my time this weekend discussing the Elefant next year
and the next question has to be whether or not you're up for it? You
mentioned that you fancied going but it's easier to say you want to go
than it is to actually get yourself motivated enough to actually set
    off.

I don't know for sure who'll go but it's a fair bet that I'll be there
as will Steve Packer and I usually manage to goad a couple of others
into turning out so you'll have a laugh if nothing else. It'll be the
normal routine for us involving getting to the site early on the
Thursday afternoon then leave about 11am on the Sunday. We'll almost
certainly stop in Randersacker overnight both going there and returning
home but that adds about 150kms to your journey each way so you'd
probably be better off sorting out something more direct unless you
wanted to avoid the Alps and hoof it up through France then Germany.

No pressure, if you don't fancy it you can enjoy the photos and the
tales of mayhem when we get back because not everyone enjoys riding
    long distances in the winter.

  7. I see a 1964 Minsk 125 reg doc, but don't see a particularly WW2 Russki
bike - except they all look like they were made then, anyway.

Allow me to do the Alpinestrellas, support the Pyrenoids and finish
some stuff at the university by september, then I'll have time to
    think about february 2012.
*coughs* I have some idea of packing the shite olde 1971 Vespa in a
train in Narbonne up to Frankfurt, then drive to the Whateverwald.

One might make the argument that "Russki" includes White Russia, but
it's a stretch. (ISBIOTTMCO, but Minsk motorcycles are made in the
city of Minsk, which is the capitol of Belarus. Belarus can be
translated literally as "White Russia." Belarus was one of the semi-
independent republics in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics,
    Russia was another.)

gives the impression they didn't start making motorcycles until after
WWII in 1951. Those in the pics sure look new. When did they start
    making accordion rubber fork boots?

    Waves airily, again.

If I can get the FJ MOT'd, taxed, insured and be employed for the
right dates [1], i'll probably be up for it.

    Paul.

[1] Which i've singularly failed to manage for the last 3 years ...

    Excuse me.

    Vespa...

You're proposing to turn up on a fucking scooter?

We put up with the Welsh, the Scots, the Irish and even bloody
Murray. We do, however, have some standards. Ride a proper bike
    there FFS.
