anyone recommend a book that would be a good introduction to a senior
manager[1] who has just taken on a role where she is taking over
responsibility[2] for a team that does development of both a multiple-
website CMS and a corporate Intranet.

She needs an overview of HTML, Javascript, CSS, XML, SQL, ASP, .Net
    etc.

This is not to be a "how to do web development" book - it needs to be
a "what are each of these technologies, what are they for, and how to
they interact" sort of thing - very high level, and plenty of bullshit-
    bingo words are acceptable.

Sounds like she wants a computer dictionary. You could survive if you
had access to Wikipedia and didn't require spontaneity ;-)

I'm now "Global Head of Support Functions Transversal Services".

Basically, "Head of IT" for "everyone except front office"

that's not even my full title. There's an extra 6 words between the
"of" and "support" that I left out because it's an internal department
    name.

I run a luncheon club for pensioners, and our selection of reading
material was getting a little dog-eared to say the least. This was one
of many titles we bought, but it has been far and away the most
popular amongst the octogenarians. As little Elsie told me "I didn't
realise my Alfred still had so much lead in his pencil!" I think this
    book is a "must read"!

Hah! Love titles... I was at Eagle Star when they created the title
    "Business Unit Manager".
