I made the mistake of buying some boots from Aldi .... cant wear them
as they are just so uncomfortable, actually they are painful

Anyway am after some boots, not ones with all the buckles or fancy
stuff, just a pair of bike boots that I can pull the bottom of the jeans
over...to be more clear, boots that are just below the knee and
    zip up

Any place in Sydney that make good boots that are not expensive ? All
the money went on the new bike :) Don't want to get from overseas or
buy online anywhere ...want to make sure they fit correctly

The ones locally are not that good and expensive so I dont mind a ride
    around Sydney

Also.....my number plate after decades of wear and tear is been replaced
and I would like to put it in a nice glass enclosure . Any ideas ?

btw: any one want to buy some Aldi boots ? they are great and very
    comfortable :)

I bought some Rossi boots about 20 years ago , cost $47.00 and have
re-soled them twice and some repairs , still wearable but seams
threading out .Looking the other day if I want to replace them it's more
like $350.00 , the question is will I need them to last another 20 years

  10. The last pair I bought from Aldi were OK, fairly comfortable and
seemingly watertight. But answering your question:

There is a bootmaker in Carlton south of Sydney that makes boots and
shoes of all types, has a big workshop in his backyard. Doesn't
specialise in bike boots but does a decent job when he does (my wife
has had 2 pairs made by him at least). You'll have to look him up
though I don't have his details. Goes by the business name of "Mr
George" And if you go to see him, he likes a chat, be warned.

gloves I bought from them lasted about 14 days of wear before the
    stitching ripped..

    comparing too

my Under Dog gloves do have a little hole in the end of one
finger...thats from about 100,000km and a trip down the road..

    <shrug> There you go, then.

I bought a pair of Aldi boots.

I found them a bit stiff for the first couple of times I wore them, then
    they eased into being comfy.

They do seem to be pretty waterproof, and warm. So warm, that they are
now my "depth of winter" boots.

I dunno how long they will last, but I was and am still quite happy with
    them.

    regards,
