what are considered "de rigeur" these days in bike boots?

My Sidi Verterbraes are >10 years old, and falling apart, and I feel
the need for some new ones.

Any suggestions (and I don't want any of that made-to-measure crap -
something I can just buy in a shop).

Someone will be along soon to plug Daytona GTX from GLF.

Daytona always look a bit /gaytona/ to me.

    And why from GLF?

I'll be in town later, take a look in Infinity @ Holborn, see what
    they've got.

I've got some four year old Aldi/Lidl ones which are ok. The Velcro
might not last another year though.

The Bullson Maddox boots I've been using for the last six years are
starting to show their age and I'm thinking of replacing them. Top
candidates are Daytona Shair GTX, but at 280 quid they'd have to come
with a bag of magic beans and a blowjob from Alison Brie to justify the
    price.

So I'll probably buy more of the same (110 quid from HG) since the first
    set have been absolutely fine.

Can you really not see the value in going significantly far out of your
way to a shop that's run by a bloke notorious for getting people to
spend far more than they originally intended?

    UKRM received wisdom, innit.

Only 10 years old? Pah babies. My Frank Thomas boots are 21 years old
    this month and still fine.

As well as Daytona, they stock Gaerne, according to their website. These
    have been recommended to me.

I've been using a pair of short Daytona Rainbows which have been great
for commuting and tours to hot places where I mainly wear jeans. Goretex
so keep your feet very dry in rain. Infinity have something similar
    called the Journey XCR.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I'm very pleased with my
    Alpinestars GPS 3 waterproof ones.

hmm. I'll try some on. I should probably also have been more specific
in my original post, I'm after something touring-oriented/waterproof
rather than a direct replacement for my "race" Sidis.

I bought them for £60 from Ebay. The model name wasn't declared in the
auction, so I had a bit of a chuckle when I opened the parcel.

Spend some of that loot on a pair of decent Daytonas then.

I've got the Roadstar GTX version which have two zips which makes them
a lot easier to get on and off plus adjustment at the back to allow
    for fat legged freaks.

My only complaint would be that they seem to be marginally shorter
than most bike boots making it more likely that you'll have issues
with waterproofs riding up over the top if you're hunched upon a
    sports bike.

I was looking into this a while ago & TCX consistently came out on top
in the tests I found. If you want something cheaper though, waterproof
touring boots are the one thing Frank Thomas do very well (or at least
    did a few years ago).

Wow, do they walk you the right way to your final destination after
    parking the bike?
