Ho yuss. And sometimes a tilt backwards works wonders, but wall facing a
Twin reverb is almost a necessity.

    Wot you said.

    ...
Not noise-cancelling, but the CX400 in-ear-canal plugs are quite nice
sounding and seem to be almost as good at blocking wind noise inside a
helmet as most earplugs, might be good for flying etc. too? After giving up
on the Autocom ickle speakers in the Schuberth lid (just not loud enough,
and not very hifi sounding, particularly with foam earplugs in) I made up a
new 7-pin harness for the mics etc. and put a socket on for the CX400s -
sound quite reasonable, and I don't need to turn 'em up so much as the
background noise has Mostly Gone Away. The flanged silicone
ear-fitting-things are an improvement over the originals, too - seem to fit
*my* ears a bit better, YMMV?

The Sennheisers are a fair bit cheaper on Ebay, thanks nice chinese gents...
About a third of the price advertised in Maplin, for instance!

  4. I bought a pair of Bose 301 series 1 after hearing them at a blind
listening room in the US Bremerhaven PX.[1]

    I dialled in:
    Normal volume.
My equipment manufacturer (amp deck etc)
    And a few other requests.

I didn't specify price, size or maker.

A fine upstanding member of this newsgroup had the cones and foam
suspension rolls replaced after a peacock got into our lounge and
attacked them. They still sound great.

Since moving from Kent to a normal house with normal sized rooms I have
noticed the base no longer extends to the lower frequencies it once did.
    But you expect that.

[1]While working on SpaceLab a colleague from NASA who looked just like
me (complete with beard) lent me his ID card and a couple of US AF guys
who lived in my road accompanied me. They loved the ride in my old XJ6.

I was in a shop last Saturday and the guy was showing me some VERY odd
speaker/amp combo's. Cone shaped with two discs perched on the top seperated
by a tube running through the middle. Fire these buggers up and a microphone
automagically extended from the base of the cone and takes a sample of the
sound. The it moves further out and takes another sample. Then the sound
begines to change to suit the acoustics of the room. Fucking amaxing bit of
kit, but IIRC, he mentioned that the price was around 20 grand. I'm going
back this weekend and I'll find out who make them and what the model number
    is. Probably 1 :)
And sound is as subjective as anything in this world could be. What I like,
I'm sure someone else would absolutely hate the sound of and that works both
    ways.
