Have you done a lot of these sorts of things? I have a vague plan to do the
MdS in the next couple of years ...

This is my second. Though the first one was in the UK, so much much
cooler, about 25 miles longer and one day less in duration. So long as
you can look at it from the point of an adventure rather than a race,
you'll be in the best frame of mind to cope with whatever comes at you.

Feel free to email me if you want any more info.

Actually, from where I'm sitting right now, even 100k cycle across Wales
seems more inviting - want to trade?

Tell you what - when you get back, let me know if there were any big
spiders. If there are, I'm not doing it ;-)

never mind that, where's ya sponsorship form?
Quite right too. I get really pissed off at the rash of
    cycle-the-himlayas/raft-down-the-andes/trek-the-Congo trips where
particpants have to raise a bunch of money for some good cause. What
it basically amounts to is someone gets their friends, family and
colleagues to subsidise them having a great holiday. if people want to
do stuff like this, they should just up and do it, as Suze has.

Just bought my venom pump yesterday but I'm hoping not to have to use
    it!

  8. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Suze
Please tell me that's a euphemism.

    Good luck, Suze. Have fun[1].

  9. Anything that involves Wales has to worse. A sort of immutable law.

hmm, yes, but Wales is only a cultural and taste desert, rather than a
    real actual-sand-desert.

If they're funding the trip themselves then seeking sponsorship on top of
it, I'd be OK with it in principle, provided they made it clear that they
were doing it for themselves and any fund-raising was a bonus.

The next twonk who comes on here asking for money for his
round-India-onna-Enfield jolly is going to, well, I'll, um, well, I
shall be very impolite. That's all I'm saying.

Erm, no. I can't run more than a couple of miles on a good day.

Funny how specific your muscles become. A 100km ride is no problem
but a 2mile run is out of the question. Running doesn't even get me
out of breath, it just buggers my legs.
