BOSM: Cars v Bikes?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Greybeard, Apr 7, 2006.

  1. That was it. I swapped bikes with The Greasy Pole, who had an R6, and I
    absolutely *hated* it.

  2. I haven't been for a while. It must have been the 1st or 2nd and you
were complaining about my noisy motorcycle.

Actually, I don't think you were at the 1st. That was where I first met
Champ and Colin Irvine, Molly and Melanie etc. If I remember rightly,
TOG and myself met up with AndyB on the way up too. Blimey, it's all
flooding back - I think Pawel rode up with us as well after we met up at
my house. I remember TOG getting all stressed out when we got a bit lost
    on the way...

I've had a bike license longer than a car one.
I sit in the steel/plastic box most of all day, every day, can't wait to be
    out of it!
Must admit though, Shitty weather does make cars a nice viable option ;o)

That pretty much how it is for me except I went soft when I bought that
shit orange van from eBay. That was the first "car" I'd had for nearly
ten years. Now the rot's set in and I've got a nice comfy family estate
    car!

I too used to ride in all weathers. I once rode 600 miles, in the rain,
    on a 400 to get a leg-over!

    Not any fucking more, matey!

    That's just it. *ATM*!

I so want to take my bike and there's only the hintest of white whisps
of cloud in the sky but I know I'm going to be cold and soaked come go-
    home time.
I'm heading northwards first and will gorging myself on breakfast at one
[1] of the many sevice areas on the way up.

[1] Probably Toddington if there's not too many kids or else NP or
    Watford Gap.

    LOL

    I don't fucking care :)

    <Justification mode=on>

I can turn up, park, go straight to the bar and when I'm ready to pass
out I can lay down in the back of my car (after giving a trustworthy
person the keys, natch) and stay there safe in the knowledge that I
don't have any damn packing to do.

    </JM=off>

That's the thing, actually; it's the packing of tents and being freezing
bloody cold at night, the rising in the rain bit doesn't bother me much
[1] but I just can't be arsed with all that piss-arsing about for one
    night.

[1] Since I bought my R1 I've not completed a journey without it either
raining or being sub-frigging-zero. I bought it to enjoy and so far, the
weather hasn't been anywhere near good enough for me to get the best out
    of it.

The one I rode all that way for turned out to be a right PITA; she even
got the humpo when I ate with my mouth open. I knew it was doomed but
fucked her a few times anyway.
