Hey, how's it hanging over there? Been around that here too, as it was for much of last week and the whole weekend. The pool's been getting a lot of use Drops to below 20C overnight though, so not too bad for sleeping, IYSWIM. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. I almost never eat out "for the food". If I want to eat well I'll stay at home - restaurants offering better than we cook for ourselves are few and far between. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Ace (b.rogers at ifrance.com) \`\ | /`/ `\\ | //' BOTAFOT#3, SbS#2, UKRMMA#13, DFV#8, SKA#2, IBB#10 `\|/` `
Heh. Can you get your restaurant bills paid for directly by the NHS as a cost-cutting measure? -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Ace (b.rogers at ifrance.com) \`\ | /`/ `\\ | //' BOTAFOT#3, SbS#2, UKRMMA#13, DFV#8, SKA#2, IBB#10 `\|/` `
it's beautiful. *happy sigh* lots of work to be done on the back of the house (needs proper stairs and an upstairs loo and shower-room and all the insulation in the world before winter) but the feeling of peaceful joy, coming home down those clear roads over the hills and seeing the estuary shining in the sunlight... the main downside of the new job is not being able to go out to the beach in the evening during the week, when it's empty. but the dollars will pay for new stairs i have fond memories of that pool. sadly, not going to put one in here: all the dosh is going on the house. just dropped a lot here with an unexpected storm. i'll be glad of some rain for the garden, m'lettuces died in spite of watering them every evening! being on the coast, even the cloudy days are bright and not depressing, and the storms are spectacular. any time you want to trundle across-country for a visit, please do. it's only 2 hours from the Pyrenees, too.
Sounds like me en-route to meet Champ at his mate's house. It'd been raining for hours, but when I stopped near Bergerac to get fuel I rang him up and asked what the weather was like and was informed that there was no sigh of rain. I duly put on my dry gloves for the last 30 miles or so, only to arrive completely fucking drenched all over again. Lying bastard. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. If you can see the estuary, you are probably near Talmont, Meschers or Saint-Georges de Didonne? Really nice villages. I spend few days in Mortagne-sur-Gironde two or three times a year. Nearer than Pyrénées are the Périgord roads, if you like twisties. Between Vergt, Beaumont du Périgord, Montpazier and Sarlat you'll find superb landscapes, nice roads, great food. From then, The Quercy roads are not too far (Cahors, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie) and then you can push to Gorges-du-Tarn... To the West and nearer, you can try the zone from Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Lussac (North) to Monbazillac (East), La Réole and Sauveterre de Guyenne (South). Nice roads, fine wines.
just south of Mortagne - my nearest market is St Fort. i can only see the estuary from the ridge, although it's about 2 miles away by crow. [snip list of biking roads] [copy list...] very useful!
