    Thanks but no thanks.
I've hardly been out on it because of the weather. Great fun when I
    have ridden it though.

Yeh, weather the sucks a bit. What do you think of the Avon tyres on it?
Any good for a Bandit would you think?

They seemed ok to me. I've had one 'decent' ride on it and I didn't
get any slides out of it so I'd say the tyres would be fine on a B6.

Ta, I'll give them a go at the next tyre change on the B6 then.

some people may remember the BOSM in (?)2000 when Dodger sat on my
SZR660. He compressed the rear suspension so much the seat unit was
    almost touching the rear tyre.

I'm on about the AM series of tyre, which they do in B6 sizes, but not
B12 sizes. Seem to be cheaper than the Bridgestone BT45 too.,

    Nah.

I had this revelation where I realised that one or two people were arseholes
for the sake of it and, when I thought about it, I came to the conclusion
I'd rather sit down in the pub and have a beer with Sir Twatty and Vito than
    the other people.

At this point I thought maybe I should just find one of those "real life"
    thingies.

    Anyone got a spare NS400 crank? :(

  12. In uk.rec.motorcycles, WavyDavy belched forth and ejected the following:
    Did you have any luck?

Spend much more time in here and you'll get sucked in like a pair of
    whores' drawers.

Whilst I was in he UK my fuel tap leaked and the contents of the tank
(luckily "only" about 3 or 4 litres) slowly emptied into the crank, then
poured out of the left hand pot exhaust port into the expansion chamber.....
So it needs a strip down to check at the least. At worst it'll want new
pistons and the bores re-plating on the lower cylinders and crank bearings
and seals. Not a lot of cost in parts, but a lot of time to do it and I
don't know if I trust myself to get it right.....

It lasted a whole 1500 miles, that engine, and has been (potentially)
buggered up by something so stupidly simple that I find it just a tad
annoying - I'd be happier if it had blown up. Ish.

Ahh.. It souldn't have buggered anything surely? I've never had this
happen, so I wouldn't really know. You did run premix oil didn't you? I
    forget..
At least you've not got any bits of engine spat out the exhaust ports,
or hammered into the cylinder heads and no extra holes in the crank
case. could your blessings, and get a high flow secondary fuel tap.

My thoughts as well, unless Davy tried to start it with a crankcase full
of fuel, which might have wrecked the crank with the effects of
    hydraulic lock.

    Even I'm not that daft!

I do know someone who let it dry out after a similar NS mishap.

After starting he found out the hard way that the unleaded had stripped the
nicasil off the outer cylinder bores, which is where my worst case scenario
    comes from.....

I kicked it over once, not knowing about the petrol until it spurted, Trevi
Fountain-style, out of the lhs spannie...... Which may have forced some
through the crank seals etc etc etc

Heh.. I'd have thought it was easy to at least twist a crank like that,
    or worse.
    Sounds like a design fault.
Unleaded can do that? That's just nasty.
    A sideshow bob moment. :)

  19. If there's one thing I can't believe it's that petrol strips hard chrome
    from cylinder bores, ffs.
