  2. Doesn't look like you've crashed it again, so I'm assuming it's broken
    down.

    What happened, then?

    On Sun, 22 Jan 2006 12:31:35 +0000,
I applied the rear brake gently and there was a big banging sound, the
rear wheel locked and I came to a graceful halt at a set of temporary
traffic lights a bit further down the road

Upon closer inspection the Torque Link Nut/Bolt appears to have turned
back into it's base metals and disappeared into the ether, the rear
brake 'bar' (from the pedal) has snapped leaving two of the poles
dangling downwards in the road. The rear brake drum now spins around
with the wheel but and the arm that the rear brake pole connects to
has bent and twisted around the wheel axle.

    Looks fucked to me.

Only bikes that can be paid for with Magic Beans are on the cards for
    a good few months yet.

If it was a horse I think they'd have shot it by now.

I think I'm going to break it and flog the shit on ebay. I feel quite
sad about the whole affair. I will be without a bike until I find a
suitable replacement which I have enough magic beans to buy.

Keep it, it'll be cheaper than buying a new bike or buy another bike[1]
    then flog your Kwak.

[1] You can get one on the drip at low monthly rates but will cost you
    loads in the long run.

But you knew there was a problem with the back brake, didn't you? Hmm?

I'm not looking into obtaining more credit. I will be binning all
credit over the next couple of years and don't want to 'do' credit
    again.

I will look into getting a new rear brake system but I may just cut my
losses and start again in a few months.

There have been a multitude of problems with the rear brake, this
looks like the conclusion to the problem. No more bodging is needed.

  15. It won't. It's a total shed, and just about everything's bust except the
engine. I can't see anyone in their right mind buying it as it stands,
    except as a breaker.

I think Nick is in danger of throwing in the towel.

I'd hate to see a couple of disasters and a lemon put him off.

    That's the impression I'm getting.
Well yes, but it's up to him to decide if bikes are right for him and
    if he wants another.

It was great. Nick broke down right outside a B&B and it was his boyish
good looks and charm, I'm sure, that got us three mugs of tea and a tray
    of bickies.

I suggested going in for breakfast, too but Prawn promised the police
that we'd stay there until the recovery truck arrived.
