No but I think he's daft to want to sell it.

    Ah. Shame.

It's probably worth full market price then.

Christ no. Have you actually seen one in the flesh? That thing fell out
of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

I've had one as a loan bike the last time the GSA got serviced and I
absolutely, utterly didn't like it. It's ugly, it's uncomfortable, it
may have more top-end power but I didn't find it very torquey compared
to a GS. I also found it awkward to ride in traffic as well.

Oh, and you've got to feed it Super Unleaded because it actually wants
    to drink 98 octane fuel.

By all means try it out but I'd go buy something else.

isn't being helped by the BMW factory tolerances being a tad on the big
side which tends to lead to parts being fitted to bikes that would have
a Japanese engineer jump off the nearest tall building.
AOL. Trouble is finding them. I'm still looking for a *very* good one
although Cannon BMW (which is who I use) are pretty decent.
I really rate my GSA too. Trouble is that I don't really rate the
1200GS so I'll probably keep this one a tad longer than I originally
planned (three years) as long as it proves to continue to be as
reliable as it is so far.

Gissa more info. Actually, I may well be in a market for one,

Depends what you're used to I suppose, seems pretty nippy to me. An
extra 20bhp and 30 kg less weight over the 1150 but it's not a blade.
Oh yes. The heated grips alone should be painted pink.

  7. The only thing that bothers me is the computer. The rest I think we
There have been some reported problems with the ABS cutting in much too
early and effectivly robbing you of brakes. There's an error in the
workshop manual that has the ABS sensor cable routed incorrectly in a
photo and it can rub against the brake disk. There's also a question
over the battery's ability to operate the ABS reliably if it's used too
    often quickly.

Where did you purchase sais beast? Although I have no problems at the
moment, time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted.

Scraggy emerged from their own little world to say
I got mine from Knight Batteries as there were not many retailers around at
that time. Excellent service but they are now expensive compared to some
    others. http://www.knightbatteries.com/

IIRC, the current cheapest price for the one that fits the 1150GS is £60
from Cheshire Batteries in Crewe. BMW OE battery is £82.

If/when you need one do a search or post at UKgser and someone will let you
know the best online price or give details of a supplier closest to you.

What a piece of incompetent design that is.
Again, a related piece of incompetent design. ****'s sake - 30 years
ago, shitty Citroen 2CVs were capable of putting out enough alternator
power to run a pair of headlights and associated other gubbins on an
    engine half the size.

These days, there is no, repeat no, excuse for such a piece of crap
    hitting the market.

Feckin Vultures. You don't want a 1981 model, never mind the mileage.
In good not mint at those miles you should see £2000 for it.

About 2 years ago. Motorworks. It cranks the engine a good 10% faster in
any weather. They don't mind a deep discharge (apparently). I cranked it
recently after sitting under a cover for 4 months. It took a good minute
of turning to fire up but the battery had the motor spinning nicely.

  15. Never ridden the 1200. The 1150 was awesome. A mate who has an 1150 tied
the 1200 and actually preferred the 1150 - thought the 1200 too revvy.

    Matter of opinion.
You're just not used to it.

I commute around the north circular and in on the A40 most days. The
weight is so low down it is stable as a horses house, it has enough
road presence that people actually see you coming and often get out of
    the way.

The extra width over my old thundercat is offset by better lights,
more torque, much more comfort (what was wrong with your loaner?) and
of course, the gay heated grips.

    I like mine muchly.
That's what it says, but I've never fed mine anything but 95. It's
    been happy from day one.
    Takes all sorts, dunnit?
I took mine on a BMW organised track day last September in Wales, and
had a whale of a time with it. All who saw it in action thought it
looked great, moved well, (and could have been ridden better).

We rode back from Welshdom in a group of 15 or so, and I was easily
keeping up with the R6s, 1150s etc. I was also carrying full panniers
    and a pillion.

Since then the sales guy at Sawbridgeworth BMW who organised the day
has mentioned to me that the R6 rider has since bought a 1200 ST.

Summary: I like mine fine, thank you.

Well, yes and no. I've ridden plenty of different bikes and in traffic,
it's up with my Ducati in awkwardness.
Do you go anywhere near the City where you have to do some serious
    filtering?
The 1200ST is serious uncomfortable compared to a GSA. You've got too
much weight on your hands at slow speed, knee angle is typical for a
modern BMW (all wrong for me) and first gear was useless in town so I
had to slip the clutch rather more often than I like (which is a
problem for me due to an arm injury a while back).
    Indeed. Love mine :)
I'm glad you do - I didn't rate it at all but if it's the right bike
    for you, that's good.
    Indeed.

  19. If I wanted an impartial assessment, the *last* group I'd ask would be a
bunch of BMW riders of a track day, FFS.
This sort of posting is meaningless. It can only be taken as meaning
    three things.

    1. The bod on the R6 wasn't trying hard.
    2. The bod on the R6 *was* trying hard, and you're a superhero
    3. The bod on the R6 was trying hard but can't ride for toffee.

My money is on (1) especially as you were in a group of 15, and there is
*no* way you can keep up realy serious speeds in a group that big.

You're coming over as a bit of an arse, you know.
