I know Leo IRL, and he's actually a charming and splendid fellow.

    or possibly
    4. The BMW R1200ST is a bike perfectly capable of comfortable group
riding fully laden at fast (for real world values of fast) road
    speeds.
Well I'll leave the name calling for when we meet, if at all.

The OP mentioned the possibility of buying a 1200ST. I have one, and
I like it. Other people, some of whom have actually tried riding one,
have other opinions, to which they are entitled.

That was years ago. I'm a lot less splendid now.

  11. Indeed. But it won't be capable of keeping up with an R6 if the R6 pilot
knows how to get the best out of the bike, Not unless the BMW rider is a
    superhero.

I dunno what it is about BMW riders - they have more bullshitters per
thousand than just about any other owners' group I've encountered. If
you believe them all, every BMW does 150+, out-handles sports bikes, and
returns 70mpg. I mean, I like 'em, and I've owned a few (older) ones,
and ridden many more, but I'm not blind to their faults.
Bridling at a gentle, and hardly impolite, nudge merely confirms the
    accuracy of the nudge....

You must have been comunicating with some really off-the-wall riders
    then...

No BMW is going to compete with an R6 in R6 terms... But as an every
day comuting/touring/scratching bike, all weathers... I'm happy and
everything else is irrelivant to me.... Whatever floats your boat...
    Who are these people?

    Easy feller, claws away...
    Ditto... :)
