after about 8 months of being rediculously busy, I've now employed enough people to be bored. Also, my boss is on leave, and so the 25% of my day which I usually spend dealing with him by email and phone is available for Usenet. While we're at it, I'll do a 2-in-one, and not launch another thread: What's the best USB2-attached external storage unit >400Gigs? Price isn't a factor, as it's for work.
**** knows. I got a Toshiba thing from PC world for £129, but that was only 350 gigs, so "wibbleflipdibbledoo". I trust Sir will be plugging it into one of these? http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002ZDQLI/ref=nosim/kaufenundbe00-21/202-1092885-5311043

that's truly mad. I might get one for home, but I'm pretty sure it would contravene our security rules at work.
I was thinking of LaCie, so job's a goodun. Or a Buffalo Terrastation, a terrabyte of RAIDable disks, all in a nice web administered NAS box. Plug in a network cable and away you go. Ive bought a few t use as backup devices, and they do *exactly* as it says on the tin, all for around 500 notes. Ive not bothered to look, but isnt gigabit ethernet faster than USB2?... someone can enlighten me now...
Gigabit ethernet is faster than USB. The Terrastation is ruled out for security reasons - we're pretty restricted as to what we plug into our network. The Terrastation is also a bit big - I have some users transferring from a company we bought last year to our main London office, and they have >300GB of data they want to bring with them. FTP has been mentioned, but buying something like the LaCie Big Disk will be both cheaper and faster (as in it'll take ages either end to get someone to approve, sort out, implement an FTP connection, and all this time would charge up to much more than 200 quid).
So many cup sizes, so little time....[/QUOTE] ....and you went straight for FF+G and Extreme, yes? Back the activity off to High and switch to side view, then put on a little music. I'm currently playing the Chemical Brothers - Orange Wedge or Got Glint? seem about right...
Heh, no. *I* showed some restraint, unlike the leftmost... lady. But yes, Extreme, obviously. I first tried Herself's size, then the DD. I saved up FF+G for later...
If that's what floats your boat obviously. IMO that's pretty obscene. Isn't it great we can all disagree?
