OK, I know this may be a stupid question, but as Ive drained the front brake
fluid, can I replace it with any old brake fluid from the motorfactors or is
there such a thing as motorbike brake fluid and car brake fluid, surely it
    don't matter??

  2. IIRC you just want to check the can/bottle says "DOT4 Brake Fluid".

Come off it Andy. A performance machine needs performance lubes.

It means Someone Who Knows Will Be long Soon.

He is right, although you may just need to check the manual, there are
some variations on the DOT 4 - like DOT 4 Super, and it cannot be mixed.
It should also state the grade on the cap for the reservoir. There isn't
any difference between car and bike fluid though.

I think DOT 3 or DOT 4 will be OK, but prolly not DOT 5 or 5.1.
5 or 5.1 is silicone based (can't remember which) and incompatible with
    the others.

  12. I've got some lovely DOT5.1 Cheaper than anything else you'll get
around here. Only £3.00 a litre.
BTW it is not wise to drain the fluid completely unless you have to.
It is sometimes a right bugger to get the new stuff in and the system
    bled.

  14. Fill it with ordinary car brake fluid. NOT the silicone stuff, if that's
    on the shelf.

You are correct. Use some DOT 4.
