Having stripped and cleaned the calipers/pistons in readiness to fit new
brake hoses (courtesy of the Busters offer). Are there any trade tips on
re-assembley of the calipers like filling the calipers with brake fluid
before putting the pistons back in to make bleeding quicker?

Buy or borrow a Mityvac. That's all you'll need.

Oh - grease your nipples on reassembly - that helps too.

Hmmm... is that wise? Isn't there a possibility of contaminating the
    brake fluid?

Well at the very least you have to remove any dirt that has accumulated
    around the rim.

  11. Or Uxbridge, for that matter. Looks like I _have_ to get Black Kat
bled and through MoT now. :-(

<Scratched knuckles and lots of pumping later>
Well it's all done bar the last few stray air bubbles.
The lever is reasonably firm, but not as good as it could be. So I'm
going to try Tog's trick of tying the lever back overnight, and then
give it a bleeding good kick^H^H^H... I mean a good bleeding again in
the morning. Shame it's gonna rain or it would have been a nice
opportunity to go out for a spin.

In other news, I lost my job last Friday as the recording studio I
worked at has gone to the wall. It only lasted 18 months under new
ownership after Sony Music closed it and gave us all the push in
February 2004. It's a strange feeling to have been made redundant twice
    from effectively the same job!

Oh well, the good news is that I start work at another studio on the
17th October, so I've 2 weeks to sort out all those little things I
normally ignore, like cleaning the bike more than once a year.

Or use PTFE (plumbers) tape. This will stop any air being drawn in
and prevent the nipples seizing in the long term.
