Breaking the 400 Four

  1. I cannot believe what it's been making, in pieces.

Tally so far is over £1400[1] and I've still got the rebuilt front
wheel, frame WLB, excellent forks, side panels and clocks to go.

Even the battery strap - the little rubber strap that secures the
battery in the battery box - made over a fiver, ffs.

Total amount, by the time I've cleaered the last nut and bolt, will be
over £1500. I'm amazed at how much prices for some components have
risen, since I last broke a 400 Four.

[1] The bike itself cost £500.

David Silver wants 4 pound plus VAT for one of those for a
    CB550. Somebody's got e-bay fever.

  3. Or Dave Silver doesn't have one for the 400? But, yes.

  5. They probably are. That battery fitted into many Hondas. Oh, and the
    Jawa 350.

So £4.70, plus postage. I flogged mine for £5.13, but the winning
bidder bought the fuel tank as well, so I'm not charging anything for
postage. You'd have thought someone running or restoring a 400 Four
would have discovered Dave Silver by now, wouldn't you?

You would. The postage was bugger all, since I added the strap to an
    order of various other things.
