Well they restrict on street parking and they make off street expensive
by levying a couple of thousand per annum per parking spot

    JL
    (they're just hopeless)

The bit where they granted free range to motorcyclists - use any on-
street parking you like, free of charge, providing you obey the parking
signs - doesn't seem all that hopeless to me.

Of course, that was the work of the Sydney City Council, not the
    state fuckup^H^H^H^H^H^Hgovernment.

Then the dopey tax laws actually encourage the likes of accountants to
buy 4x4s and drive them daily into the city, and park in expensive
    parking lots. :-(\\

    And it isn't quite correct.

You can use any ticketed parking you like as long as you don't
    overstay your time.

You can't (as far as I know, it's being worked on for couriers) use
    loading zones.

And yes - that's SCC, but then pretty well all parking in any council
district is the council's baliwick. So if you want the same thing in
another council area you lobby the council, pointing to the SCC doing
    it.

Rubbish. I said "provided you obey the parking signs". That
    seems pretty much *exactly*....

    ... what you're saying here...

    ... and here.

So sorry if I failed to credit MCCNSW for the work, but what I
    said wasn't at all incorrect.

Indeed - I rather like Sydney City Council, it's the state govt I can't
    stand

    JL
(I'm not alone on that though - 78% of NSW agrees with me according to
    the last poll IIRC)

Myeegh I say it's more like encouraging the type who can afford
expensive accountants who do that :)
Yes, yes indeed they do. Although one of the reasons to do that was
taken away at the last budget there's still a few more laws that have to
change before that (perfectly rational repsonse to the existing tax
regime) becomes not viable or less attractive

    JL
(who used to do exactly that although the "4wd" was an audi AWD...)

Yes I agreed with that, it was the loading zone bit, as the signs
    don't *forbid* bikes as such.

So you can obey the sign and still be thumped.

    Hence the "not quite".

And all of us sheeple will put up with it instead of staying away from
the bridge for long enough to have an effect.
The govt knows exactly how sheeple behave and take whatever they are fed.
They know that people will use victoria rd for a day or so then they
will all come back and behave

That's right, but they don't *permit* other private commuter
vehicles (ie: cars) either. I know that I can't park my car
in a loading zone, I wouldn't expect to be able to put my bikes
    in one either.

Are couriers riding bikes registered for commercial porpoises
(ie: not private rego) permitted to use loading zones? (aside
from the new bike parking rules)

Speak for yourself. I haven't used the tunnel at all, in my car
or on a bike, since it went cashless. I ride across the bridge
almost every day on the strength of a quarterly harbour crossings
pass, but I take the move to cashless as excluding me from using
my car on the bridge inbound.
