Indeed, but I've sometimes arrived earlier or later than the period specified for the fare and never had to pay extra... 'ang on, I remember one time, though, where we wanted to cross back (to the UK) a day early, and they weren't having it. I tried phoning them and all sorts, but eventually went back to a different tiocket booth and they were OK. SO some of it will depends (as in this case) on how busy they are, some of it on how bolshy they're feeling. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. What's your problem? A gixxer with 12 inch high ape-hangers and lower, forward set footrests would have a similar riding position to a V-Strom. Or did you not understand the humorous reference to Mr. Eaton's rearset incident?
Really? It's half an hour in which I can check stuff, plan routes or read my book and it comes in at £68 return - out Sat morning back Monday evening in July for Chimay.
I can manage minutes, maybe days, but weeks are a bugger. HTF anyone can ever in reality provide an alibi unless they were at a scheduled event I don't know.
I think you might be. Phew. I'm a forgetful old bugger at times. There are two of those for the 185 in the box of bits I've assembled for WUN. There are also two on the TS250. Ah, the TS185C tank isn't held down by a rubber band, it's held down by a bolt. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..75830../..18846.../..3214./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 IbB#4 '^' RBR Landmarks: 24 Pts: 400 Miles: 1589

Though I've been through the tunnel iro 100 times, I've only done it once on a bike. That was when I was riding back from Ace's place in France on the 400 Four. I had a ticket for the Seacat, but I'd missed it, and I was in a rush, so I went straight for the train. That was necessity (I had a plane to catch from Heathrow about 6 hours later, so didn't have time to waste). Ordinarily though, my motorcycling to the continent would be for pleasure. And I enjoy catching ferries. The delay to get loaded is a little tiresome, but once on the boat I like it. Have a sit down, something to eat, a beer, a piss. Lovely. It's part of the pleasure, for me; part of the trip.
Hard, cold, dirty, uncomfortable. True. I'd rather look at scenery, though. True. See my post to sweller for the reasons behind my preference. I understand your desire for speed and simplicity, because you've got 4 hours riding UK-side before getting on, or after getting off.
True. When we had the VW camper we used to go Portsmouth - Le Havre on the night boat it was all part of the holiday and reinforced the idea of going 'abroad'. Unfortunately that route appears to have closed. Chimay weekend is going to be a bit rushed as Friday I'm doing 'stuff' and will be catching the 7am train to get to Chimay for 12pm (local time) Saturday which means a 5am ish departure from mine. The tunnel is ideal for that kind of idiocy; costs about the same as the ferries.
You forgot to mention the joy of watching hundreds of folk go green and loose their lunch when it blows up. 'Hog
Oh, yeah, for efficiency and timeliness, you can't whack it. It's great that it costs the same as the ferry, too. For a while it was significantly more expensive.
