What are they fighting for? Certainly not their country.

  4. That's not their fault. The PBI always gets shat upon. He's naive, of
course, but it's still a decent sentiment - not wanting to be "protected", I
    mean.

    He's not PBI, he's VRC.

Hear, hear. The Army just do as their told regardless of the rights &
wrongs of the situation. Imagine how shitty it must be to face death
every day for something you disagree with.

I admire the lad for wanting to be with his men but I bet there'll be
a hell of a price on the poor sods head. Prince Harry in a shite video
on TV in an orange overall would be quite a coup for the baddies.

I wonder if our "non negotiation" policy would hold firm then.

I doubt he has much choice in the matter.
And if he did use his privileged to stay at home I'm sure you'd be
amoungst the first to condemn him. At least he's got a proper job and
    he's getting his hands dirty.

    Cane says...
IIRC it was his choice too, ahead of when it was expected of him to
    apply.

  12. He didn't choose his destiny, though. And he could have sat on his arse.
No argument from me on that. I can rant on the so-called royal family at
length, but will spare y'all. It starts somewhere around "I ain't no
bleeding subject" and goes via Charlie boy being unable to move without
    fourteen retainers......
    Heh.

  13. I've more time for those that actually try to do the proper thing, unlike
simply commanding a minesweeper. Harry's uncle wasn't given any real
    concessions in the Argie unpleasantness.

I think you're making a serious under-estimation of his mental ability
here. Remember, he's a ginger, and has been smart enough to find a job
where he's allowed to cover it up with a hat and look like everyone
    else.

Mummy would probably send those "special" bits of the army over to sort
    it all out.

Hmmm. This is shrewd long-range planning by the Battenbergs, perhaps.
Ginger Thicky gets killed, or kidnapped'n'tortured'n'killed. That way
[privately] the cuckoo-in-the-nest bastard Hewitty genes are taken
permanently out of the equation, plus [publicly] there's a hyooge surge of
national sympathy for the rest of the family; thus buying the evil
Greek-German crime syndicate a few more years before they're all up put
    against the wall!

[Wanders off, muttering ever more outlandish conspiracy theories ...]

    embassy siege.

  19. He was flying ASW helis in combat situations. With real ammo being used on
    both sides.

  20. One of the best pieces of TV reportage I ever saw, that. ISTR that ITN did
    best on it.
