He's not the ideal individual to pick to illustrate in-breeding in the
    Royal family.

Ah well, at least when they cart you off to the Tower, you'll not have
    far to go.

"Linda! Linda! I can see our house from here Linda!"

I suspect they'd be allowed, but anyone caught riding one from john
o'groats to lands end in 11 hours or less will be publicly hanged, in
    trafalgar square.

  5. Quite the contrary, from what I recall of the news coverage at the time. And
yes, I am well aware of bias and propaganda. I remember the campaign very
well indeed - FiL was working in Pompey dockyard at the time, RASing ships.
We went down and saw many of them come back in.

There's been a fair bit about Andy on the aviation mailing lists over the
years. I might ba to go look in the archives. Whatever else one might think
of the Windsors, he was there, he flew helis in a shit awful situation.

  7. I think you are baiting. I hope you are. If you aren't, then you are an
ignorant piece of shit that I'd leave on the sole of my shoe. My dad is
still suffering from what happened to him at Cassino. He wasn't a fucking
conscript - although they were just as brave - he joined up in 1937. My
mother's first fiancé was killed at the age of twenty in 1940.

If you really mean that remark, you are an utter fuckwit, and I never wish
to read anything you post anywhere ever again. If it was "only" a piece of
bait or a joke, it was in damnably bad taste even for here.

Yes, that's a hot button you may have just pressed. I'm very proud of my
father, and all the ones that went before him.

    Yeah, but after reading this

"Famously, he flew as a so-called Exocet decoy to protect warships from
    missile attack"

he doesn't appear to have fullfilled is duties :)

  13. Heh. God, you should have heard my FiL at the time. He ranted seven bells
about the MoD and aluminium warships. He'd seen it as a stupid idea from the
    outset.

Nasty in what way? Bit tedious staying in the hover high enough for the
low-flying missile to pass safely underneath, I expect. Bit dodgy if you
lose an engine, by all means. But "Bloody nasty"? No, not really.

  16. Got to give the insurgents something to fire at, doncha know.

Anyway, what's this 'put myself through Sandhurst' crap? We paid for it,
and if I may venture an opinion, it's hardly a degree in theoretical
    fizzicks, is it?

    Q1. Which end goes bang?

    A. Dis one.

In foreign climes there are at times
    Some moments quite appalling
But none too fraught to be set at naught

I wouldn't like to be the British commander who had to break the news
"that he was killed under my command" either by friendly fire or otherwise.

The only similar thing I can think of in recent history was chinese
general Peng Dehuai who got into trouble when Mao Zedong's son Mao
Anying was killed under his command by the Americans in the Korean war.

  20. I loathe bullies. Which is what you are doing. So, I can either go away,
huh, or use some non existent killfuile, eh? I've no right to take issue
with the ignorant and insulting prejudice you display? And I don't mean
    insulting to me, either.

I will not be driven away by overbearing behaviour like yours. And that
applies both here and in real life.

And, I seem to recall that you took issue with my supposed "cynicism" some
time back? And then, you make statements like that? Christ, you are a
    hypocrite of the worst kind.
