I can remember every bike *and* registration number thereof that I've
    *ever* owned.

It's only ten bikes, mind. Although eleven reg nos!

I can remember SD exiting a ferry at Calais once, playing 633 Squadron
rather loudly. One of the ship's crew jumped to attention and saluted
    him as he went past.

    Or maybe not.

It says, in the advert, that it's ABS.

US Spec bikes only had ABS on the Audio/Comfort/Nav, and
    Audio/Comfort/Nav/Airbag, spec levels.

This is an Audio/Comfort spec level.

I've asked three different folk at the shop, who all assure me it is
    ABS equipped.

They've seen the slotted rotor thingy, and everything.

What chance it'll have ABS when I go to inspect it at lunchtime?

What to do if it doesn't?

This has not gone as well as expected.

I *think* they might all fit. We'll see.

    ObGL1500 update.

Split the knackered alternator on Friday.

Apart from the ends of the brushes falling out onto the bench, the
copper thing they rub against looked like it had been chewed by a dog.

The bearing on the end had disintegrated completely.

One final trip up to Civic Amenities for that one, I think - can't put
it in the bin, the binmen won't be able to lift it..

By 'eck it were cold in't garridge. Amazing the stuff you find, too.

Any market for a1950s pressure cooker? Or a set of cook's scales from
    the same era?

Oxford grips[CB13]are now only partially fitted, but the throttle side
is very stiff with the bar-end weight back on. Yes, I have trimmed the
end according to instructions. Investigation to continue in warmer
    climes.

All I ned to do now is find somewhere for the control box, and try to
join it all up. Despite the weather, I thnk the need might not be that
    great in the coming week.

Talking of which, if Dobles ring up to say the Wing's ready to roll, I
    might pretend I'm not in.

I don't fancy riding it back on roads like they are at the moment.

Oh, and you can *see* the ABS sensor in this pic.

Between the caliper and the axle.

All I have to do now is ponder the plausibility of riding in to work
in the morning. I reckon I'll give it a go - that bolt in the rear
    tyre should provide extra traction.

A common complaint on Hondas, apparently. Some have machined the
bar-end weight down, others have inserted washers to pack it out.
He rang me at work, so I couldn't evade. Ready for collection as soon
as funds clear[1]. No problem with leaving it until the weather perks
    up.
    It did, too.

[1] increased cost by adding extra (third) year's warranty and AA

    D-day 29th December.

    Unless it's snowing.

Good value for a December tax disc, there.

can't they do a 53 week tax disc? I've had one of these twice when
negotiating end of bonus period deals

Tax was paid for when it was registered Tuesday last week - but the
reg # and the tax disc only turned up at the dealer on Monday, when I
    paid for the bike.

  13. Want to stop by the Chateau on the way back, for a cuppa, seeing as
we're sort of in the neighbourhood?

    Sounds like a plan.

I've not got the day off, so it'll have to be a flying visit on the
    way back to EC4.

I've been allowed a late arrival, but there are only two of us in, out
    of six.

There'll still be bugger all to do, but apparently, these things
    matter.

Mail me your #, and I'll bell you re: progress on the day.

There's ten quid's worth of insurance to account for too.

That adds up to nearly half a tankful.

Hmmm. I'm not 100% certain I can create *enough* space without leaving
all the tools and shelving out on the drive.

Current plan is to reverse the 15 in, and park the 18 nose-to-nose.
Should get some overlap on the length that way. The CBX is already up
on the ramp in the rhs corner, and the 13[1] fits quite neatly behind
    it.

I reckon on three trips up the tip tomorrow, and all the garden
paraphernalia stuffed in the shed then we'll see what's what on
    Wednesday night.

Looks like CBX fettling for Ebaying may take up most of the spring.

[1]Which now has working heated grips (cue the weather picking up) and
a plugged rear Michelin. That bolt didn't let any air out in over a
    week.

It appears that the alternator failure in August took out both dipped
filaments - which only became apparent when I pulled up in front of
the garage. Praise be to twin sidelights and amber running lights.

It also seems to run stronger with a new alternator in it.

So, train to Coulsdon tomorrow, then into work via the Chateau, all
    being well.

    Odds on it'll be raining.
