Just found this posted on Facebook, stunned by the over exuberant response
    by the bully boys ...

"Mrs Grav and I attended the funeral of Sean, son of Tommy and Tammy of
Tommy's tools, today. Quite a few bikes turned up to help escort him on his
final journey out of love and respect for Tommy and Tammy. The funeral
cortege and service went without incident at Colwyn Bay Crematorium but
whilst we were following the Hearse back to the pub for the wake, North
Wales Police decided in their infinite wisdom to pull the whole cortege into
    a layby and demand documents.

It wasn't just one or two of us, it was all of us, even the driver of the
    Hearse.........

I couldn't believe it. A dozen Police, one Dog handler and an Armed Response
Unit backed up by the plod copter.

Tammy was livid as was a few others and I dont blame them cos we were ALL
legal. They only decided to let us go when some folks got their camera
phones out and started to video the proceedings.......

The Copper who took my details (whilst trying to balance his gun on his
shoulder) apologised and said the order had come from the top. That can only
    be one person, Brunstrom.

The reason for pulling everyone? They had reports of bikers riding without
    helmets on........"

Isn't it illegal to photograph the police now under anti-terror laws?

So when the police are videoing people at marches in hope that the
marchers are going to get violent it will be illegal to video the
police beating people up for no reason. Sounds very fair.

    Wotcha.
So these CCTV cameras that are mounted all over the show - petrol stations,
supermarkets, outside flats, shopping centres, etc. are all now illegal
because they must surely capture the image of any passing policeman, be they
    on or off duty.

ISTR that while the anti-terrorism legislation does indeed make it illegal
to take photos of police officers those powers are limited to times and
locations determined by somebody of at least assistant chief constable
rank - so basically unless there is an outstanding order allowing the use of
those powers (and it is a time-limited order, it can't be issued
indefinitely) then you can still photograph coppers.

So if a policeman tries to tell you that photographing him is illegal it's
important to find out the name of the senior officer who empowered him to
use that section of the act.

I wonder if the specific act can be retro applied should the officer
in question decide that he didn't like you taking the photo/video of
him beating up someone or doing something that he really shouldn't
    have been doing.

What you describe is _exactly_ how the powers to conduct ID checks in
France are defined (_cf_ Article 78-2 of the Code of Penal Procedure).

In reality, ID checks are carried out at the whim of the constable.

Well ...... really shame on us for being so apathetic and allowing the

  17. Ahem. I didn't vote for this lot, and I didn't vote for that shower of
shite calling itself the Tory Party, and my concern over civil liberties
was a major reason why not, in both cases.

That's how it's done here. If you know the law enough to question why
your identity is being checked (few do, as most here believe that random
ID checks are legal; they're not), you'll be arrested and an OPJ will
postdate the document authorising the officer to have conducted that
search (usually accompanied by some fantastical reason why it was
    necessary).

    Case closed.

Yebbut .. none of us actively protest once a party is in power and stuffing
us over do we. The recent post here about the reduction in NSL had a lot
just accepting that nothing could be done to stop it etc.

It may only be a small protest but this is why I use the faxyourmp website
to at least lodge some form of complaint and so far my AM/MP and euro MP
have all followed up on the issues
