Pathetic and transparent troll, but I'll bite anyway. For the moment,
France is in better shape with regard to civil liberties than the UK.
Not because the French are any more attached to freedom than the Brits.
Not because the French are any less frightened by the spectre of
'terrorism' brandished by the government. Not because the French are in
any shape, manner or form 'better' than the Brits.

No, the country is (for the moment) better protected against tyrannical
government by our system of laws. There is no 'doctrine of
parliamentary sovereignty' here, in the same sense as for the UK
Parliament. The rights given to us by the Constitution of 1958 cannot
be frittered away at the whim of a Minister. The constitutionality of
laws can be challenged and if necessary, those laws can be struck down.

You have no such protections in the UK, and Nationality Act or no
Nationality Act, you are not 'citizens', but subjects of a government
that answers to an archaic, privileged and parasitic, post-feudal
    dynasty.

I'm not gloating, nor am I being 'francocentric'. We've got nothing to
be complacent about over here, because we'll soon be in no better shape
    than you lot.

Indeed. But strictly speaking, I'm not advocating it. The bloodshed
would be horrendous. If you think tanks in Glasgow's George Square were
bad enough, wait until you see what happens if anyone tries to remove
the UK government by force. Royal Family, Cabinet and Privy Council
into a bomb shelter, and tactical nuclear weapons would be used. The
dead would have a monument erected in their 'honour'. And the system
    would continue as before.

The UK government is now IMO one of the most genuinely neo-fascist in
the world. And the worst thing is that ours is even worse. If we had
your system of laws, it would already be illegal to go from Paris to
Marseille without a laissez-passer, and the presumption of innocence
would be a thing of the past.

  3. I do something similar with theyworkforyou. And I'm on my (LibDem) MP's
    email list, too.

While I'm not a fan of the Tories my local MP is Michael Howard and
I've used TheyWorkForYou in the past and have indeed had a few
problems resolved by my MP (mostly relating to the local authority) by
just sending an email. He sometimes responds by email and sometimes
by post, but he certainly gets stuff done.
