Brunstrom is a twat

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Steve Firth, Apr 27, 2007.

  1. As I have stated, under certain well-defined circumstances, and I can
think of several[1], no, he/she *will not*.

You know *nothing* about journalism, do you?

[1] Please don't make me show you up by having to list any.

Oh indeed, and I've made damn sure that the press were excluded.

Are you trying to claim that Brunstrom's press briefing was something
else? Or are you jsut naively sucking up to authority as you usually do?

And with all due respect there is Brunstrom's testimony on this on his
own blog, which I assume that you have bothered to read.

    In it he states:

"The invitations made it very clear, in writing, that these images were
not, are not and will not be released into the public domain"

He does not at any point in that blog state that there were any other
reporting restrictions, nor does he allege that the reporting of the
meeting was in any way a breach of any undertaking given by any
    journalist.

In short, with the greatest respect, you are incorrect in your
    implication.

What next then, take the severed heads and put them on spikes?

If severed heads are a sign of success, severed heads on spikes is a
    sign of overwhelming success surely?

What makes you think that this meeting fitted those "well-defined"
circumstances? Brunstrom has not claimed that the meeting was subject to
any embargo, to any reporting restriction, nor yet to any informal
agreement not to discuss the content of the meeting.

All he has stated is that those attending were informed that photographs
    would not be published.

    No one published any photographs.
I know enough to exclude journalists from any meeting that I really want
to keep secret. I also know that if I'm holding a meeting that permits a
jorunalist to have early access to information that the press office
will make damn sure that every journalist attending signs an
acknowledgement of the duration and extent of any embargo before they
    are allowed into the room.

I also know from long experience that journalists are generally drawn
from the shallow end of the gene pool and tend to be mouth-breathers
with an exaggerated opinion of their own value. So I wouldn't trust one
as far as I can spit into the wind.
Please don't make me show you up by pointing out what Brunstrom says on
    his own blog, again.

And please don't show yourself up by talking out of your arse.

Oh you're wrong, I'm a nasty egotistical twat. But I don't spend all my
time pissing and moaning like Brunstrom and I would like the lower
orders like CCs to recognise their place in the pecking order.

Or in Brunstrom's case, just because he's a carpenter it doesn't mean he
    can walk on water.

What a load of unmitigated bollocks. In 30 years of riding, I've lost
a few mates and been aware of others, as well as seeing on the roads
the results of similar accidents. Anyone who hasn't, or believes that
biking is 'safe' is living in cloud cuckoo land and clearly won't be
influenced by 'shock tactics' like this.
    Quite so.
I'm no more or less aware of the facts than I was a year ago. Certain
events have, however, served to emphasise them somewhat. I didn't die,
clearly, but I lost half a ski season, FFS. I never saw a
Brunstrom-type campaign telling me that might happen.

Do you think I could sue them for not using relevant examples to try
    and put me off biking?

It's the standard sort of scare tactic used by people who have never done
