Given the number of people who now seem to drive at 45-50 mph (and
sometimes even slower) on SC NSL 60 roads, I'm not sure that's right.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

Various activities can be dangerous if they're not done with appropriate
    care.

  3. Any time I've been travelling at that sort of speed or higher, it's been
on wide empty roads where the unexpected doesn't get a chance to happen.

Speed, in and of itself, is not dangerous. Combined with idiocy, yes, it
can be, but I'm not an idiot.

Care to tell us the maximum speeed you ever travelled at in your job
    car? Did the world end?

I think one can drive well, or badly, at both high speed and more
moderate speeds. It would be wrong to suggest that I'm entirely
dependent on high speed for my enjoyment, but using high speed safely is
a skill I admire, and I don't see anything wrong with that - apart from
the legal aspect of course, but I also enjoy my attempts to drive well
    at legal speeds.

Where highish speeds are used it is additionally important to take care
over it, as the consequences of something going wrong are likely to be
more serious. I expect we can agree on that bit.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

No, I'm sure they're not, but they do seem more likely to have some
passion about enjoying their biking, and I have some sympathy for their
point of view. A bit more thought for others might not come amiss at
    times though.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

I've never been a biker, but it seems to me they are more vulnerable,
and extra care needs to be taken if they are keen to remain intact.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

Kev - what do you mean by 'excessively fast'?

It's not, I mean even average cars will do 125...

    150MPH, now that's fun.

"One crowded hour of glorious life is worth an age without a name."

I can't remember who originally said that, but it is a philosophy that
has some merit I would say.

Of course if you're careful enough you can enjoy the fun, and keep on
doing so for quite a while, which seems to me the best plan. It doesn't
need to be all or nothing. :)

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

I read the extracts from the Daily Mail that you kindly provided, but
I'm still not going to say 'it serves him right'.

    Best wishes all,

best I can Kev - but you're not always making it easy. :-(

Well it probably is fun - though I don't want less than four wheels for
my own purposes - but they need to be careful about where and how they
do it. Apart from that I say good luck to them.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

Life for me is great because I'm not afraid to push the envelope a bit
further in pursuit of even more fun.

I've had a great life, I've got 4 wonderful kids and enjoyed the
delights of many countries and many women. If I die now I'll die a happy
man, a man who's done something with his life, been places, met
fantastic people and enjoyed himself. I don't wrap myself in cotton wool
and live in fear of death - in my time I've had 2 heart attacks and a
mini-stroke, every day is wonderful and to be lived to the full, and
that is manifested in the way I ride my bikes.

    Oh yes it is.
Trust doesn't necessarily come into it.

You *really* don't get it, do you?
