Well provided that they are not one of 450 very unlucky police riders.

I used to do a lot of shooting a few years back - at one meeting (Barton
Road range), the tits in stetsons and fringed leather jackets were
    off-duty coppers....

  4. Christ; with a friend like you he doesn't need any enemies.
Is it beyond your comprehension that people who run around saying, "I
told you so" aren't among the most highly-regarded? Couldn't you just
have kept quiet? Is that asking too much?

Your endless prating about speed limits and your apparent inability to
think for yourself is getting wearing.

The V6 Volvo 760 I had some years back was shit. 3 litres of 'no-go'.

  7. My 760 was as quick as any hot hatch when not loaded with a full set of
family and luggage when going in a straight line and very often quicker
round corners but that was more down to me. The 265 was a little slower
    I have to confess.

And would not competent and careful drivers be expected to abide by Road
    Traffic Laws?
Anyone who has subscribed to Uk.driving for any length of time should by now
know my views on speeding. I accept without the slightest hesitation that it
is nonsense to suggest that mere speeding is automatically dangerous. What
I do argue, however, is that speed limits in general are essential to road
safety - and if they are so essential then they must be enforced - because
if they are not enforced then they are ignored. Those are my views.

Have you read Brunstrom's blog on the issue? He states:

"The meeting held yesterday was a closed one, to an invited audience of
journalists and road safety professionals, all of whom had been warned in
advance that they would be briefly exposed to harrowing images, in order
that the media could better understand the full context of the Arrive Alive
project. The invitations made it very clear, in writing, that these images
were not, are not and will not be released into the public domain - a point
emphasised verbally during the meeting. They were included as a minor part
of the presentation to counter the continuing tendency in some sections of
our society to trivialise road death."

Now you can argue (and no doubt the journalist will) that the actual
photograpsh were not released into the public domain - but sufficient detail
was provided that they might just as well have been.

While of course ignoring the evidence to the contrary.

Germany, Isle of Man and until very recently Montana.

And the only reason that Montana went back to a speed limit was because
they were bullied into it by the Federal Government which removed
    funding for highway repairs.

During the period of the Montana experiment 1995 - 1999 road safety
    *improved* on Montana highways.

Since the return to a speed limit, accident statistics in Montana have
    doubled.

Kev's "argument" crushed (again) and as ever he will ignore this
    evidence.

That simply demonstrates the circles you move in. Yes, I accept that there
are a lot of foul-mouthed coppers - and I find them as obnoxious as anyone
else who cannot string two sentences together without sprinkling them with
    obscenties.
    Wrong on both counts!

See my post elsewhere on the thread re my views on speeding. I have never
every attempted to suggest that mere speeding is automatically dangerous.

Over priced, not particularly reliable, very expensive to service, very
    expensive spares, etc.
My 131ps diesel auto 75 has more than enough power to haul my caravan along
    without difficulty.

Indeed and unlike you, I understand what is written.
That is a statement of Brusntroms (or North Wales) policy. That is, that
Brunstrom will not release the images into the public domain. It is not
    a reporting restriction.
An attempt to reduce the significance of using the images by describing
    their use as "minor".
Are you arguing that they were released? Control of those images is with
North Wales Constabulary, so any release is obviously via them if it at
    all.
Aww bless, "might as well have been" is enough to hang someone out to
dry now is it? Is that the standard of proof you used throughout your
    career?

And again you demonstrate your prejudice. The fact that someone is foul
mouthed does not make them an oaf. There are plenty of highly intelligent,
educated people who choose to use what you term as obscenities. Mostly they
realize that they are just words and the only reason we don't use them is a
set of cultural mores based on keeping the masses in their place. You must
have been an absolute disaster as a police officer with such small-minded
    and blinkered thinking.

Does it ever occur to you that the majority might have some validity to
their views and therefore you should consider your position on some of the
issues discussed? If all you do is dismiss all opposition on the basis that
they are more ignorant than you why do you bother joining in with the
    discussions?

I think the difference is that it is very very rare these days to come
across bikers who are riding sensibly. Whenever I do come across such a
biker I always comment upon it to my passengers. Driving down the A49 the
other day and approaching Craven Arms there was such a biker in front of me
in a long line of traffic. He was cruising along at the same speed as
everyone else. His road positioning was excellent - if he was not an
emergency services driver then certainly he had undergone advanced driving
tuition. What a far cry from the usual - high speed, ignore double whites,
overtake wherever remotely possible, even if it puts you between two
    vehicles. etc.,etc.
