You mean a large proportion of the autobahn network.

Err, yes it does (unless you're just talking about the autobahn
exceptions, which is a bit of a circular argument). Cross any (major)
land border into Germany and you'll see a sign showing the national
limits on built-up and out-of-town roads.

    Which is illegal.

You are obviously an oaf and a yob with no respect for THE LAW! Not only
that but the sort of moronic careless driver who doesn't even know what
the speed limit is for his class of vehicle. It's people like you that
cause accidents and in all my years as a very senior and very important
person who has people fawning at my boots and telling me how wonderful I
am because I have a uniform I have never encountered such blithering
oafish behaviour. <mumble> Daily Mail <mumble><rant> Why if I had my
    way... (cont. p94).

Don't be fooled. In the case of the German autobahns, that upper limit
is only advisory (though exceeding it will be held against a driver
    involved in an accident).

I suspect you are being deliberately obtuse here.

I've encountered quite a few lousy car drivers as well, some of them with
blue lights on top of the vehicle and the words "Police" plastered all over
them. It doesn't mean that I think all police drivers are bad.

Isn't the speed limit for a car and trailer on the motorway 60mph?

That was exactly my thought. He isn't even consistent in his argument is he?

If you're going to respond with single words of abuse at least take the time
and trouble to ensure you get the attribution correct you fucking moron.

  14. On one wheel with a single digit extended skywards in recognition of the
hold up you are causing by being that much under the NSL, 30 odd feet
long and in the middle lane? It takes considerable skill, don't knock
it, I doubt you could do it.

So you believe that if all speed limits were abolished tomorrow the UK roads
    would be safer?

The problem is that not all motorcyclists are skilled and therefore the
unskilled require keeping in check. The only way to do that is to have speed
limits and enforce them. There is no way to enforce speed limits against
unskilled riders and not against skilled riders - and so they have to be
enforced against everyone. It's in *everyone's* interest for that to be so.

Guns are safe in the right hands - but American experience shows what
happens if you let everyone have them. Consequently the tight gun laws in
the UK are necessary and need to be enforced against everyone - even the
    'right hands'.

Yes it is. An indicated 69 mph on my car is an actual 62/63 mph (as it is on
most cars) - well below the level that any speed camera or police officer
    would take the slightest interest.

    What a load of shit.

I think you'll find that most motorcycle accidents (where no other
vehicle is involved, especially) happen whilst cornering which means
they're more than likely to happen well within the limits designated by
    the random number onna stick.

You will note that I referred to an *indicated* speed rather than my
*actual* speed. Unlike many, I know that my speedometer (like the majority
on the road) is inaccurate by about 10%. When I am travelling at an
indicated 69 mph, I am actually travelling at around 62 mph. Yes,
technically that is speeding - but it is well below the level that any
camera or police officer would take the slightest interest. The ACPO
recommendation for prosecution is, as you will know, 10% + 2mph - which at a
speed limit of 60 mph is 68 mph.
