    How does this happen?

I've never even remotely come close to being hit from behind.

Could it be that you're an over-cautious, hesitant ****?

That 300kg object (a small grand piano for example) should be dropped
from a height of 5m to attain a speed of 10m/s.
How fast does a rifle bullet spin?

Yes, now go and learn about the constraints applied to the calculation
of Kinetic energy. The equation you provide a link to is not valid for
    rotating bodies.

It depends on the type of weapon but in the range 140,000 to 250,000
rpm. The weight given was far too heavy for a typical rifle bullet. A
    7mm bullet weighs about 10g, even a .44 Magnum weighs only 12g.

An elephant gun fires a 30g bullet.

I hope you won't be either, but there's plenty of time yet, Steve.
That wouldn't justify shunting somebody in the tail. The following
vehicle would still be primarily at fault.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

What, over 4000 revolutions / second?

    I don't think so ...

Cover the rev counter too, I use that more than the speedo to judge my
    speed.

No need. Hypocrite Kev Uno-Hoo! has already boasted that he always
safely exceeds the speed limit. That's a result.

I don't care what you think, the range given is correct. Bullets from a
hand gun rotate more slowly, about 100,000 rpm.

And since ICBA going though it all, look here:

  17. If it is traveling at 1000 m/s that is 25cm per revolution, is that a
problem? Speed at the circumference about 100 m/s, and 1% more KE?

I did. Maybe you should actually have taken 'O' level physics then you'd
know why you're being a dick.

Hence why you cannot treat a bullet as a non-rotating system for the
purpose of calculating KE. Also why bullets "tumble" inside the body.
