Very disgustingly smug. Christ, that Blears woman is an arsewipe.
Indeed. It reminds me of the proposal (did it ever get enacted?) to crush
people's cars for non-payment of RFL. Yes I pay my road tax, and yes I want
those who don't or won't punished in some way - but crushing a person's
fucking car? I can't imagine how I would react if it happened to me, but I
suspect it would involve extreme violence against someone. And I'm normally
    very placid.

    That is my only issue.

I have no problem with completly graphic scenes used to prevent what in
many cases is crimes of stupidity.
But you musn't cause distress to survivors, that includes the family of
any deceased, and you could argue, any survivors of the crash, even if
they caused it. It is bad enough to cause an accident and have to live
with the consequeces, without it being rubbed in.

  4. There's more than that. In our culture we show respect to the dead.

Yeeah, well, I've heard "empowerment", "proactive" and all sorts of
bullshit. Doesn't mean that any of them has any meaning. Sure, some
people who die in accidents are victims - but many are just dozy
    twats.

Does anyone talk about "suicide victims"?

Yes, the relatives. They want to build a barrier so the cunts can't jump
off the Golden Gate Bridge. It'll cost millions of USD and ruin the
    looks of the bridge.

No distress would have been caused in this instance if one stupid hack
hadn't decided to tell the story of what he had seen. This was a
presentation given to a select few who were requested to treat what they
viewed as confidential. They were expected to give publicity to the
successful 'arrive alive' campaign - not to the pictures they were shown.

And in what way was showing the results of fatal traffic accidents not
    showing respect?

I repeat that in certain occupations (police, ambulance, fire brigade,
health service, etc) it is quite normal and standard practice to attend
presentations where graphic photographs of actual incidents are shown. This
is not disrespecting the dead in any way.

So would you expect medical students leaving a training session to contact
the press and say they have just seen photographs of Joe Bloggs mangled
underneath a fallen crane? How about all the other emergency service
personnel who view such photographs as part of their training? Should they
also rush to the press to report what they have seen?

I have trusted journalists with 'off the record' stories on many occasions
and have never been let down.

The point of the press being invited was to give publicity to the road
safety campaigns being undertaken by North Wales Police - no more no less.

Perhaps Brunstrom has demonstrated more of a capacity for alienating
people. He has not exactly been rational and plausible in his
    pronouncements.

    Best wishes all,

There is absolutely no reason why the shouldn't unless they have given an
undertaking not to. The only problem is that it isn't news. "Medical
student sees dead body" is not really a very interesting headline is it? It
is even less newsworthy if it is being used to train medics because there is
an obvious justification for it. Whereas, a publicity-seeking chief
constable cynically showing gruesome photographs of a dead man to
journalists without permission of the family IS news because there is no
justification for it. There was no betrayal of confidence because the
meeting was not held in confidence or "off the record". It was a "closed"
meeting but that only means "invitation only" it was NOT a confidential
    briefing.

They could have wardens who let them jump but issue them with bungees
first, to avoid possible harm to passers-by in boats and increase the
entertainment value at the same time.

Anybody see the bloke who supported Bare Naked Ladies on their tour
recently? Reminded me of Jake Thackeray with songs like "Bungee Girl"
(chorus: Here she comes - there she goes - here she comes - there she goes).

Was that Boothby Graffoe? I've only got a limited tolerance for him. Oh
no, that's it I've used up my allowance for the next year.
