the place that is, not the delicious green plant of the mustard
    family, but the city.

I'm going to be there this weekend (there is no /good/ reason, so
    don't bother asking why).

Has anyone got any recommendations for things to do/places to eat?

Get some little girl there? I suppose you would like same place near a
    school.

  3. there's a "street" just of central that has pretty much nothing but
little cosy looking eating places, with large front terraces, "fresh"
seafood on display and "maitre'd" trying to encourage you inside.

    Avoid.

    Otherwise, the waffles are good.

Oh and I've eaten here, it's pretty good, not fantastic, but not shit.

Daytime, head to the Musees Royaux des Beaux-Arts, easiest place in the
world to kill 6 or 7 hours. Then for food head to the Vismarkt (a few
minutes' walk from the Grand Place, past the old bourse) - far better
than any of the shit round the square, especially if you like seafood,
and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

On a Belgium/artistic tip, the Groeningen in Bruges is worth a visit,
but it's way way way smaller than the MRBAB (some nice Van Eyck and
Bosch pieces though) and takes about an hour by train from Brussels.

What he said. They'll offer a free round of drinks. YKWIM.

I've been there. The service was fucking dreadful. Food was alright-ish.

The Conca d'Oro (iirc) just round the corner on the Vismarkt is the most
disorganised restaurant I've ever been in, but the grub was great.

    This place is quite amusing:

Just don't put your drink down on a shelf, because the shelf isn't
where you think it is, or even the shape you think it is.

Having now created a myspace profile so I can look at the pictures it
looks like they've re-decorated and take out most of the Dali-inspired
    fittings.

I'd suggest Brussels is more interesting than Dudley.

When I went to Dalis Bar in 2000, the interior was decorated in line
with Dali's work. It was a little odd when drunk.

I wonder if Pol's is still there? It was my introduction to live Jazz.
