BT090's

  1. Just had a pair fitted to my Duke and I'm impressed so far. There is one
problem that has become apparent though - although the rear is the a 160/60
17" as per OE and every other tyre that's been fitted it appears to be a
little wider than the others. Upright there is about a 2mm gap between the
chain and the sharp edge of the tyre where the tread meets the sidewall. It
seems that in left handers the chain is contacting this edge, nothing major
but enough to wear the sharpness off the edge - is this likely to be an
issue longer term or is there plenty of rubber on this part?

It won't be a problem except possibly at MOT time. It happened to me on
the old Gixxer with Dunlops - changed to Michelin and there is plenty of
room. I was warned about it by the MOT man but still passed.

Sure it's the chain? The symptoms of chain contact are a series of
nibbles round the edge of the tyre where the rivets catch it.

If it's smooth then it's more likely to be the swingarm or hugger.

  7. Sorted it out now - wheel out, a couple of minutes with a block plane and no
more rubbing. I compared it with the D207 I still have my spare wheel while
it was off - the BT090 has a much more pronounced lip at the top of the
shoulder which makes it sit a good 3 or 4mm further past the rim than the
Dunlop. Bridgestone list this as a suitable fitment for the Duke on their
website though which, given the issue I've had, makes me think they've made
an assumption on the basis that it's OE on the new LC690 . Rides well with
    them though.
