Elsick just signed for another year on the Buell...wonder if that will be
    affected.

Surely the 2009 Buell will still be legal for competition in 2010.

Makes a person wonder. I've gotta assume that if Buell had remained
independent (presuming they didn't solicit the H-D buyout to prevent
bankruptcy) that Erik would have found a way to weather the recession
    and keep on keeping on.

I liked many of Buell's innovations, but their insistence on old HD
engines was both a unique differentiator and a boat anchor. Makes me
think the plan was always to be acquired by a thriving HD, and they
did that at just the right time too.

    I like this part:

"Over the past 26 years, Buell motorcycles won numerous design accolades
and awards, and countless races and championships around the world,
including the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike championship in 2009."

'Countless' ? really - no wonder they couldn't stay in business
if they can;t even count past one...

"Certainly he initially built motorcycles that should never have seen
    the light of day."

"Over time, the Buell Motorcycle Company began to produce very good
    motorcycles"

Unfortunately he was still playing that game right till the end if
reports of the first journalist test of the 1125CR at Laguna are
correct. When was the last time you heard of a Triumph, Ducati, or any
of the big 4 being criticised at a launch for the bike being unfinished?
