Dropped my ( not even a week old ) 750 gixxer outside work. What do I
care? i here you say. Well just think of it as an opportunity to point
and stare like everybody else did, and call me the tit that i well and
    truly am.

Snapped the clutch lever ( just the end tho ), scratched fairing and
generator cover - £230 in all for repairs. Could have been worse I
    suppose.

Eh? It sounds like you don't know what the **** you're doing so I'd
suggest it should be at maximum 20 quid for a second hand clutch lever.

You'll drop the fucker again so I'd not bother replacing anything else

  5. Pattern clutch lever, stick of touch-up paint for the fairing, ignore
    the generator cover. Thirty quid.

I mean, what does it matter if it's got some scrapes, unless you're
trying to sell it? Cross that bridge when you come to it.

It matters to me. Imagine ( I'm assuming you're middle aged and white)
you had walked in on you're teenage daughter receiving some ruff anal
action from a large black gentleman. You would want to put things back
the way they were, but you can't and nothing you can do can wipe that
image from your mind. Well it's not like that with my bike is it, a
few new parts and it's good as new.

I did that a week after I got the bloody clutch lever done on the Triple.
That was nearly two years ago now, but getting it fixed just feels like
    tempting fate......

  11. I'd wish them both the best of British.

You're not the nicest of people when it comes to people other than your
    own skin colour, are you?

    Well, it's your money.

Can I interest you in insurance against stupidity?

Wouldn't work. Insurance is all about contingencies, not certainties.

Not sure I agree with the analogy but
I'd want to enjoy the bike in mint condition rather than run it for a couple
of years tatty then sell it repaired for someone else to enjoy

  15. Heh. I replaced the bits that were smashed beyond repair on the Trophy,
and the rest I fixed up. It's my bike, and the slight scratch on the
right-hand fairing panel doesn't worry me. Nor does the fact that the
indicator has been glued back together and touched up with Triumph
    paint.

It still rides and behaves exactly as it did. And I keep an eye on Ebay
for cheap replacement parts - they turn up. Had I replaced every single
slightly scuffed part, the bill would have been in four figures.

Of course, Wayne King, with his obsession with black gentlemen, thinks
    otherwise. Horses for courses.

  16. No shit
It'll get tatty with time anyway, probably. As for repairing it at sale
time, obviously it's only worth doing if the cost of repairing is less
than the difference in value between unrepaired and repaired.

I'm fine with people of all cultures/creeds I was just portraying an
image that might upset a middle classed " old school" kind of chap. I
like the way that I'm receiving sound financial advice though, with
nobody knowing anything about my circumstances whatsoever.

  19. Nice dodge attempt. I don't believe a word of it.

Oh, and "middle (sic) class" is wrong, old chap.

I have to challenge you there. You are looking at the product, not the
    potential for profit.
