Bugger!

Well, didn't yeterday just turn to shit!
I had to use the bike on business and parked the bike in a
safe, quiet corner of the *very* wide paved area. Came back an hour
later to find a $37 [1]parking ticket :-( There was me just copying
    what
everyone else seems to do. Perhaps another Canadian lesson
    learned...don't park on the pavement[2]

Then, on the way home, I got knocked off the bike by someone leaving a
service station. My avoidance action was going very nicely, thank you,
until he decided that, not only did he want my piece of road but, he
was also going to do a quick left turn into my escape route.

    Summary of damage:
    Bent clutch lever
    Broken indicator
Hole in fairing where aforementioned indicator decided it was going
    its separate way.
Bent footpeg hanger with brake pedal jammed against the frame
    Various minor scratches.

    Injuries:
Banged knee which seems fine now.
Sore arse this morning, obviously landed with a thump!

    Good points:
    Gear unmarked
Driver accepts fault and Ottawa Police agree[3]
    2 independent witnesses.
Nice hole in car door where pierced by footpeg.

    Bugger!

[1] About 15 quid in real money so more an irritant than any real
    pain.
[2] Especially in Quebec with an Ontario plate.[4]
[3] Which apparently means that insurance will pay up with no
argument. A bit like knock for knock but with no detriment to my
    insurance history.
[4] No mercy is shown, ever.
