My youngest daughter will be dining there next week, courtesy of her
best friend's father, who lives out there. I've told her not to try
ordering a cheeseburger and chips with extra tomato sauce.

    Lucky cow.

Bacon is freely available[1] in the Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai, so
I'd be quite surprised if it isn't in the Burj-al-Arab.

[1] Albeit, served at a separate counter at breakfast.

Completely over rated. You're not missing out on anything except a
    grossly inflated bill.

Dubai is a pretty cool city for finding proper bacon.

I doubt he understood the date encoding. Try asking 10-05-07.

It was freely available in the supermarkets, too, when I lived in the

    I've switched to ISO 8601 date format - YYYY.MM.DD

It makes sorting dated documentation much easier.

If you fancy a special service experience, I can highly recommend Bovey
Castle[1] in Devon. We stayed there last weekend, & it was almost
surreal. We chose the 'fine dining' option on the Friday, which
consisted of a cosy restaurant all to ourselves, & a personal butler
who's worked for most of the European royal households. Jolly
    interesting chap to talk to.

    The location's pretty spectacular too.
You'd get on fine with Bovey then - it cost us 900 quid for 2 nights in
    total.

Good heavens. I didn't realise it was actually a standard. I thought
the Chinese had simply used yet another format of their own.

'tis actually. I used to use it all the time on the VOS systems I used
    to work on.

Sorted out the problem of W2K, no worries.

Who mentioned value? It was grossly over-priced imo. 180 quid of that
was just Friday night's dinner with a couple of bottles of wine, ffs!
However if you want to be pampered to the point where you just feel
like telling all the 'servants' to **** off & leave you in peace,
whilst holed-up in a fantastic location & eating seriously good food,
    it's perfect.
