Frequently seen stuck into the muffler exits of motocross bikes on
trailers enroute to or from the bush. I guess it's supposed to keep
moisture from seeping into the exhaust on bikes which don't get taken
out all too often.

No, I'm not sure they achieve anything, either...

I've seen these for sale in most of the Canberra bike shops (being a
"regional" area, lots of dirt bikes around).
