I realise your posts mostly do what the name says on the tin, but in
the group of "people living in different countries but subscribing to
a UK newsgroup and slagging off the UK", I can only think of two
    members.

  2. Bollocks. I'm six thousand miles away from my bikes atm.

Saw a Triumph Rocket parked outside a Santiago cafe today. That made me
blink because I didn't know they sold Triumphs in Chile, but a quick
look at the Triumph website shows they do.

Well, I'm a bit of a cross dresser. I work in Germany but basically
spend as much time as I can back on Monkey Island. This does give you
a view on the gradual degradation of good old Britania and it's not in
feral brats running the streets, they always did that, it's the less
than gradual erosion of civil liberties. A couple of articles that
    caught my eye.

And frankly the RoI is a stinking hole and getting worse.. I'm sure G
will come running "home" if he develops a serious illness, cancer
particularly. Or he will if he finds out how bad they are.

Assuming he has any cash left for the ticket after paying for his stay

  14. Not so different, overall.
If you seriously think I'd "come running home", you know **** all about
    me.

Ah they all say that until that prostate cancer *really* starts to hurt.

Of course the UK isn't the ideal place to come for treatment, but it is
free to you. Romania would be better!

I've just spent two days in the Brit. Inst. of Radiology learning how Nu
Labour have fucked over their core voters in Healthcare terms since they
    came to power.

  18. It's tempting but the extra £600 or so for actual citizenship is
an embuggerment. Now that I've found iris-scan it's not really an issue,
though. Last three times I've come into T5 I've been through Immigration
in about 20 seconds -- quicker than most nationals I'd have thought.
There's never been a queue for the (two) booths, though there was a woman
just in front of me on Saturday and I believe in retrospect that I was
reacting to some of the instructions for her ("Please move a little
further away from the camera") rather than just my own. I should suggest
    better soundproofing.

Happily this time my luggage arrived within 5 minutes of my
reaching the belt -- last time it was over 90 minutes!

  19. Hmm, it was customary during the 60s and into the 70s for young
Australians of a certain vintage and ancestry[1] to travel to London (inter
alia) for a time. This was always referred to as "going home" no matter
how many generations ago their forebears actually left for Oz.

[1] And perhaps social class; if you couldn't afford it you didn't go.
This son of a share-farmer never even considered it.
