Need a little help here. I need to know the name of the tool I need to
use to grease a speedo cable, and what kind of grease to use.
    Cheers

  2. It's called a cable oiler. And you're better off using oil, not grease.

In fact, you don't need an oiler at all - get one of those small
polythene coin bags, punch a small hole in the bottom, stick the end of
the cable through it, tie it tightly around the end of the cable, where
it goes through the hole, with rubber bands or gaffa tape, pour a little
oil into the bag so it covers the end of the cable, and hang it up
    overnight.

It'll drip down through the cable and do the job for you. (Don't hang it
    over your best carpet....)

You can also make a funnel out of plasticene to do the same job, but
I've always found plasticene goes all gooey with oil.

I'll give the coin bag method a go, thanks for the advice.

    Noooo.....

    It's a speedo cable.

Normal LM grease. Remove the cable inner and clean then smear with
grease but leave the top (speedo head end) 1" ungreased as there's a
danger the cable will wind the grease into the speedo.

  5. Shit, you're right. Serves me right for not reading the post properly.
Yes, exactly what he says. use the other method for control cables.

I use brake cleaner and a rag to clean everything up before I grease
    things again.
