  1. We have limiters here in Spain. Mine was limited to 3.3kW. Just had it
upgraded to 5.75kW. This means I will have a higher standing charge.

The upgrade involved changing the limiter from 15A to 25A. Before, it
kept tripping out the whole house. Lucky I had UPSs.

    Unfortunately indoors.
    That's much simpler.

The lot in Limoges seem fairly reasonable, though the agent
    Received reply tyvm.

    :

I hate built in appliances, with the exception of the gas hob.

We inherited fitted Zanussis, fridge over freezer. The freezer failed last
year. A replacement to fit the hole is about £300 and has most of the
storage capacity taken up by the compressor so I abandoned that idea.
Instead, I bought a small chest freezer for £120 which goes in the utility
room next to the washing machine. It holds loads more and uses much less
power as it can dissipate heat more efficiently. When the fridge dies the
cheap & nasty cabinet is going to the tip and we will have a standalone
    fridge freezer.

Yeah, that was the case with us too. Needed to get a lecky in to
reconfigure it before geting it changed.
Yes, it just trips the main switch.
Christ, we can trip ours really easily if we're not careful. We did
get it increased slightly, but just a washing machine (on the heating
cycle), the oven and hob, and a kettle was sufficient, along with
other background stuff. It's not much more than that now, but we've
just learnt to be a little more cautious.

Bad form, etc, but the first link isn't actually a provider but
a site that helps you choose providers.

We could choose just to pay a little more per month, but then who'd
    pay for the gold taps?

Ah, it's a conundrum, and no mistake.

    I must ponder the matter...

although both #1 and #2 stepson (and me, sometimes) are prone to
midnight raids to the fridge, I'm pretty sure no-one except me ever
gets stuff out of the freezer.

similar to my mid-term plan - want to redo the whole kitchen without
nearly so much worksurface (there's over 5m of it at the moment - not
needed) and no built-in appliances, other than as you say, an oven and
    hob.

Ironically, we also have a free-standing cooker at the moment, which I
    hate.

a meme almost as out-of-date as the "orange" thing.

I don't have OCPD anymore - I just told myself to get over it, and
followed this rule to the letter.

what he know about it? He's an obsessive DVD-that-he-doesn't-watch

oh, he downloads stuff, for sure, but it stays on the NAS (until I
decide it's been unwatched for long enough and delete it to clear
    space[1])
    saaad.

    [1] who knew a 1.5 terabytes[2] wouldn't be "enough"?
[2] that's just on the main NAS - total storage in this house is
    probably pushing 3 terabytes.
