I knew various of the ranks were on track at cadwell today & as i was in the
area i thought i would nip in.

Weather was OK up to about 10 miles away where it started blowing a gale &
cunting it down..when i got there i had to dodge the flying gazebos & tents
flapping in the horizontal rain :(

After an hour or so i had to **** off, no more than two miles from the track
    it was sunny :)

ou didn't come and say hello! TBF, you would have found me lurking in
my car until after the lunch break when the rain stopped. Still very
blowy, but the cold let the GFR rev nearly 1000 rpm more. I was up the
cuff of a 600 hire race bike for most ofd a session. Lost me down the
straights and got in my way on the bendy bits. Then the pip squeek ran
out of juice (luckily) halfway between barn and chris curve. I had
filled it up at lunch time the day before, but it was drinking fuel at
an amazing rate, probably as it might be running a bit rich (hence
going better today). So I called it a day. Great fun though,
    particularly yesterday.

Suddenly I don't feel so bad about missing this.

And for those who might say something along the lines of "it's good
experience", I say " I get to ride in the pissing rain on public roads
for free and gaining experience of wet racing isn't what I do track
    days for."

The start finish straight. Barn to the left hander up the hill to
Charlie's. I've only been going there for 31 years, how do you expect
me to remember the names, as well as which way they go.

No pushing. Just a brief fiddle on the grass whilst switching to
reserve. The session was nearly over anyway.

Well it starts with a 'C', so I was on the right lines (hopefully).

I was in faded all blue leathers on a little mostly white and red 125
    with 'Sea and Sea' stickers.

Only did the first Eeyores session after lunch on Friday though. I'm
with Pip on battling with the elements. I was waiting for an 'all
masochists to the assembly area' announcement.

If I'd had the YZ250 hill climb bike with me I might have gone out in
the wet to explore the envelope a bit, but I'm only used to putting up
with about a minute at a time on that,

Quite. That last session I did on Friday afternoon was probably the most
fun I had across both days. The rain had stopped (mostly), the track had
dried out, the wind had dropped and I found a playmate doing a similar
    pace. Result.

My last session found a playmate on a hired 600 getting in my way round
the twisty bits and fucking off down the two straights. Result -
frustration. I should have done as advised in the briefing and just
backed right off for a while to get a clearer run, but old instincts
resurfaced. If the red mist had really descended I would have done him
on the brakes in to Mansfield though.

The black and green one? I hoofed it away from him as soon as possible.
the luxury of having an extra 40 horsepower. Or 120 even!

I lost count of how many people I passed into Mansfield - that and the
left hander at the Mountain were perfect places for getting past groups
    of slow-moving traffic.

Oh what it was to be king of the novices for a day. Inters next time,
    definitely.

    Harrumph.

And it turns out I might have enough holiday left after all - I appear
    to have mis-booked some days.

I waited til it'd stopped belting down before going out so visibility
wasn't an issue but grip was at a premium - fishtailing up the Mountain
was no fun at all - and the crosswind that kicked in as you hit the
crest of Park Straight was ludicrous.

    Still, all good fun.

    The very one.

As long as they stay relatively slow moving when you get past Barn or
Charlies. TBF, Champ was carving the GFR through the Pigores on
Thursday evening. Mainly round the outside at Hall.

A 100 BHP (no more thank you) bike next time, definitely. I could have
had him on the Voxan with ease.

All the hire bikes were black and green. :)
If it's who I think it is, he's an eeyore regular, previously cruising
round on a Ducati ST something or other.
I'm currently full of lurgy too. No whisky though.

Ah, right. Might have noticed that in the assembly area when we were
    red-flagged.

You should have come and said hello to the UKRM contingent. We were easy
to spot - you just have to follow the sound of extreme profanity in an
    otherwise well-behaved paddock.

Glad you enjoyed it. Those 'cooking'[1] H-rated Pirelli Diablos weren't
    too bad at all.

[1] As in plain vanilla - not Corsa or anything fancy, rather than going
    off under duress.
