    a) It's not.
    b) Artifical snow-making has come a long way in recent years.

As we are in fact likely to see a reduction in temperature as the solar
cycle reduces I concur with A

    BIG BEN Guest

What gets me about the http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6505423.stm
    article.
Not so much the british MPs thick head blatent anti motorcycle
    activities.
It´s their report on government motorcycling strategy saying that
illegal use of mini motos was a problem.
    A problem!!
    really.

The report noted that there was a massive increase in numbers of
Motorcycles for Use on Private Property (MUPP).

The market was about 7,000 new bikes a year of this type in 2001, but
an estimated 170,000 were imported to the UK in 2005.

THAT is 170,000 of these Motorcycles for Use on Private Property IN A
    YEAR.

So toady bliar and his liebour government LET in what by now must be
HALF A MILLION or even more of these mini-moto type machines.
NOT thinking for one minute of all the types riding them about the
pavements of their estates of a night.....ALL night........Every
    night.
(mind you, Some are actually riden by some people, properly)

Like they have little or NO forsight of what they do.
These SAME idiots THEN start to kick up a fuss.
    Like it is who´s fault!!

    The liebour Governments fault.

THEN the bbc article reports: They conclude: "If the problem
persists, the government should make the case to the EU trade
commissioner to restrict the imports of these goods if they are of a
particularly low standard, as the (motorcycle) industry appears to
    think is the case."

As the (motorcycle) industry appears to think is the case."

The british motorcycle industry, has pressurised the Gov.
No doubt cause a lot of these mini moto type bikes never even go
    through THEIR hands.
Hence NO PROFIT in it for THEM.

  6. I dont get it, all motorbikes have speed limiters anyway, it that
thing on the righthand side of the handlebars that you pull with you
fingers, the harder you pull it the more it limits speed.

There's also one that you operate with your right foot, it not as good
as the one on the front though.

However, if there was some automatic speed limiting thing, such as
when it detects a "safety" van or greed camera, it slows you down,
    that is a good idea.

Strange that the report mentioned various forms of transport with their
accident and pollution rates but didn't mention horses.
Nasty dangerous things. The accident rate is sky-high, as are emissions
of greenhouse gasses and solid particulates, not to mention the numbers
used off-road and unlicensed. Could it be because the committee
    consisted mostly of horses' arses?

  9. How long do we need to be playing this game for? I mean it'll have to be
long because to get everything in place will take longer than the
lifetimes of the people who are making these changes and decisions.

Didn't anyone else read this far into the document?:

"It is a cause for some concern that the Government’s objective of
increasing motorcycle use will, if it is successful, result in more deaths
and injuries on the roads unless there is a very substantial reduction in
    motorcyclist casualty rates."

It is in paragraph one, FFS. It hardly indicates that "they" want to ban
them. Unless you were thinking of someone else....

Obviously written by someone who drives a Reliant Robin or a Shitroen 2CV. I
wonder how many RoSPA people drive cars whic are capable of exceeding the
    maximum speed limit.

That does suprise me. I've had significantly less snow alerts this year.
I guess when the storms have hit, they must have dumped more than normal.

Complex issue, but data suggests that the gulf stream is beginning to
slow a little. A general rise in global temperatures does not rule out
a fall in temperature for the maritime climates of western europe.
