Call me a cynic, but....

  1. I think what annoys me most is landing on the northern runway at
LHR and having to wait 30 mins or so to cross the southern one to get to T4.

  3. Once. I don't remember much about it. The visit itself was
interesting, though, for reasons I mentioned yesterday in the DwP thread...
Oh, the transmetropolitan car-park after work was a giggle.

  4. That really boils my piss. Last time it happened, the entire planefull
was ready to commit murder on the *two* cunts who'd fucked off for a
bevvy and totally forgot their departure time.

  5. I really don't understand how someone can forget when their flight is,
what gate it flies from or the fact you have to turn up a number of
minutes before hand in order that everyone gets on in due time. Still
that Airport programme shows it happens all too readily.

  6. And did you subsequently enjoy your Greek Salad, bearing in mind you
should never piss the chef off?

In the majority of cases you're right. But not in all.

You're not one of those saddos who stand up blocking the aisle as soon
as the plane comes to a halt are you ?

  10. They do me a favour; while I'm taking it easy finishing a book or
looking out at the crack on the wing, those keen ones are catching the
fire from the terrorists and generally hacking each others' legs off
with their amusing little wheeled cases.

You mean like everyone on the flight?

No, I don't need to. My AF Gold card gets me through the quick way. And
if I'm on a day trip, I don't need to worry about finding space to
stuff my case in the overhead locker.

    <fx: small voice>
But I am occasionally known for doing this when I have overnight stays
and there's no quick walk in line.

  13. LH has? When did they do that, then? Because I go to Santiago reasonably
frequently, and there aren't many ways of getting there.

Lufthansa from Frankfurt was one. BA to Brazil or Argentina and then
change: that was another. And from Madrid with Iberia (spit!). And that
    was about it.

Oh, LAN from Madrid as well. I like LAN - good airline.

The LH service was always highly rated among the Chileans (and Germans)
I spoke to who used it.

  14. I didn't actually eat it, did I?

And I cancelled my remaining order too, which I regard as SOP in these
cases, to avoid the usual nasty reprisal.

    I wasn't hungry anyway.....

My two most recent trips have been KLM - not too bad, and I think you
can choose your seat on the website 24hrs before you travel.
If you've never been there before, Schiphol can take ages to get across
if you're unlucky with the arrival and departure gates being at
opposite ends. If you have to go through one of the passport lines do
    that first.

http://www.schiphol.nl then Airport Information should give you all you
    need.

I take both, and smile at anyone that slings me a

    plans.

  17. Ta. I've been through Schipol many times.

Always managed to resist the temptation of the in-terminal casino. It
used to be the best duty-free shopping in Europe. The single market has
rather diminished its appeal, but it's still good.

Ah righty. I'll put these eggs away then. Although the passport bit on
Thursday was a bit busy, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
There's certainly enough to while away the time / allowance / money.

I'm not sure if they've pulled it totally, but it certainly no longer
runs on the day of the week I need it. If I made everyone stay there
for two more days then I could get them back with SwissAir.
Yeah, but look at the competition. Take South Africa for example,
South African Airlines have a CPT-LHR route, and the only other real
competition is Virgin Atlantic (via JNB), Nationwide Airlines (via
    JNB) and BA.

  20. The only time I've transited there I've had to sprint through the place
    - late departure from Heathrow meant connection time almost disappeared
for a flight to Tokyo. The return flight was a bit late as we had to
take off in a tropical storm from Narita.

    I much prefer direct flights.
