Well, I'm not a Molly - or a molly, for that matter - but I do know!

The name Molly is generally used as a nick name for Mary; its origin is from
the Gaelic (Irish) version of the name Mary, Maeili which means the
    expression Wished-for child.

    What's your problem?

I thought it was obvious that is it was copied? I've never claimed it to be
    mine.

I'm afraid others have got the answer - it was slang for someone who was
    gay.

In fact, there were more gay clubs in London in the 1700s than at any
other time in the city's history until about ten years ago even though
being gay carried the death sentence at the time.

Also, when gays got married back then, part of the wedding ceremony
included a 'birth' scene where one of the couple gave birth to a wooden
    doll.

Amazing what you learn at work...
