Someone mentioned here a week or so ago that Woolworths/BigW
had a camelback clone for sale for around thirty bucks.

Had a look today, found one in the cycling section (a
mountain biking accessory) for close to sixty bucks.

It looked OK, but for that much money, why bother with a
    cheap chinese knock-off? :)

That was biggus. Next time you're in BigW buy a salt shaker... A grain here
and there will help you to differentiate reality from the place where he
    lives.

  3. If I was prone to that sort of thing, I'd put $20 on that knock-off being
manufactured in the same factory as the real Camel-Bak.

I've seen a few camelbak copies in my time mountain biking. I'm not
so sure about the relative bag qualities but the camelbak bladder is
way better than any others I've seen.
Bladders double as a spine protector so I've seen quite a few pop.
I'm still on the same bladder I got with my bag 4 years ago that gets
used a few times a week.
The worst bladders I've seen have been the 'platypus' brand, they seem
to fall apart just sitting there. I've also heard of PVC bladders
that make the water taste funny.

I find the Carribee brand to be excellent value.

I have a 2LTR Caribee and the bladder went hard and brittle and cracked
along the line the insulation blanket finished on. The good thing about the
Caribee is the straw goes into a screw on lid. The lid has the same thread
as a two litre coke bottle, or probably any other coke bottle for that
matter. A bit more bulky but I ride and run with it no probs.

Hmmm, there's prolly a lesson in that somewhere. Something like
    a common-or-garden $10 backpack from paddys market (I have a couple
of the $10 specials, been using them for a couple-o years, no
worries) and a bit o garden hose and an orchy bottle...

No, wait, we're making a camel back, not a bong! Well, you know
what I mean. Home brew would prolly come in at about 15 bucks.
Just substitute the Coca Cola for something less likely to give
magor sugar rush and attendant muscle cramps!

Yeah, but the point with those is that they're cheap
enough that you can afford another one an hour later!

Personally, I prefer my cheap knock-offs to be "Made in
Thailand", but each to his own :)

Mr Bob, or 'Smiling' as I like to call you, you see, there's jokes, and then
there's jokes, and some people almost make jokes in this newsgroup, and then I
like to post some stuff here too. If you didn't get the gag, please feel free
to email, um, pretty well anyone here to explain them to you..

is it my turn to call 'Harsh Week'?

Yup, you're right. The amount of really obvious stuff that
goes sailing right over the top of a lot of folks heads
    never ceases to amaze.

I got the gag fine, thanks. Wouldn't have replied in kind
if I didn't. If you need some help understanding, feel free
    to ask.

    <harsh> **** you very much. </harsh>
